Hello everyone,

I've had my RX-7 lowered with Eibach springs on the stock shocks and I'm running 18 inch rims. It's starting to rub on the front two fenders and I'm thinking about rolling my fenders. Has anyone rolled their own? Was it difficult? Should I attempt it myself or should I have a wheel shop do it? Thanks for the help.

 

I hear it's easy to do yourself too or use SST (use caution of course). Also, see this link:

You'll hear some tell you they did it with a baseball bat and it looks great.

Others will tell you they totally destroyed their fenders by trying to do it themselves.

The fact is it's not too much to have a body shop do it and a good one might be able to do it without chipping the paint (a difficult feat with a baseball bat).

Another option is to buy the Eastwood tool and a heatgun and do it yourself.

One more option is to "rent" the Eastwood tool and heatgun from either someone on here (best bet if you can find one) or one of the guys who offer this service on eBay. Just search "fender roller" on eBay and you'll see what I mean.

Given the fragility of FD paint and your inexperience with doing it, just pay a body shop a few $ to do it.

 

anyone know the estimated cost for a shop to do it?
im sure shop or not, the paint/clearcoat will get messed up.
but at least there will be no worries of messing up a fender

 

i did it my self on the rear of my fc and the pain literally shattered off. but i got a very nice flare out it, be very carefull if you do the fronts yourself that is very thin sheetmetal and it will buckle so take your time. btw i used the eastwood tool. i suggest if no one in your area has one , buy one and rent it out its only 249 and its great to have around
