i got the gas thing alot and then tried to explain it to them and knowbody gets it. I used to get is it fast. (88 vert n/a, not fast big heavy turd) but made corners awesome! I ran with no catback system and got the loud thing. worst ever was when it caught fire and i had to get it towed the idiot tow truck driver asked me 20 some times if it was rearwheel drive. and would say are you sure it's not front wheel? My buddy always askes me how hard you can turn them. I say 10k easy.
That's true. I would hope that most of this thread is talk, and FC owners are not purposefully being jackasses towards other people.

This one time, I was driving around on public roads, shifting at over 9000 rpm, shooting flaymz and doing driftz. Then this one stupid-ass was like, "Hey don't RX7s have rotary engines in them? I don't really know how they work, but I'm willing to learn about them." Then I was like "BRO YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOT IF j00 DON'T NOE BOUT DEEZ!!1!" Then he was like, "Well not many cars came with them, so they're not as common and therefore there are less people that are knowledgeable about them, as compared to piston engines." Then I was all like STFU!!1!1, ur the dumbest guy ever you fucking asshole!!" and I punched him in the throat while kicking him in the nuts at the same time. Then I grabbed his GF and PIIDB in front of a classroom full of children. When I finished, I put on a blindfold as Rick Astley walked in and began singing 'Never gonna give you up'. Then I met up with Manny Puig outside and he had these gigantic alligators that you can ride like horses, so we got on those and rode them off into the sunset.

there are A LOT of people in the car scene who can get by with BS-ing their way through a V8 or 4-banger motor, but when it comes to rotaries it IS funny to hear them try!!

My friend hates my RX-7. Not because it's Japanese or because it has a rotary engine, but because it's too small for him.
I had him sit in the passenger seat last Thursday to help me identify a strange noise that occured when braking (rotor out of spec). Me, get a truck? Not till I get a track car. Him not drive it? Fine by me. He drives almost as badly as I do!

He's also the most accident-prone guy on the planet. He may not think he fits because he's so used to pickup trucks. The sunroof equipment does rob some headroom, however.

But I hope the irony of FC owners calling people stupid for not knowing what a rotary is will not be lost on most people reading this thread. Calling people stupid for lack of rotary knowledge is like me sitting there and calling FC owners stupid for not knowing how many teeth are on the big oil pump sprocket. The real funny is when someone who obviously doesn't know tries to BS their way through a conversation and sound intelligent. For this reason, I am always quiet when someone brings up the RX-7 in a conversation just so I can hear the hilarity.

I'm going to have to agree with you. Usually when people ask me about it, I either tell them I don't have enough time to explain it or I tell them I have 2 spinning triangles. Most of the time its the not enough time excuse. You'll find that whenever someone is asking you about it is when your in a rush to get somewhere.
I find it kind of funny the stuff I've heard my friends say about rotaries when their brought up in a conversation. Most of the time I get to hear about how they "Can make *infinite* horsepower because they don't stop, they just continue to spin faster." I swear white people here in Florida are born hating rotaries. I've gotten so many people yelling at me...

I was at a car meet with a couple of Honda buddies when this guy comes over and starts talking about how he had a 13b Honda pushing like 25lb of boost but his homeboy crashed it doing 150mph. I'm sure everyone's come across these people. The guy that trys to fit into the crowd by making something up. The ones where you don't want to say "no you dont, your lying". You just give them that "oh, thats cool..." look.

^^^^^^Yup, i do the same thing. Just let them talk and dig themself into a hole of rediculousness. "not all rx7s came with the rotary" "i am building a 4 rotor...ya just put 2 b13s together"...etc.......You are right, it is even funnier when they get into the internal mechanics.

Yo, my homeboy says he put 2 13b's together to make a 4 rotor and put it in his dads mercedes with a modified z06 cam and mugen valves. He says that when you press the gas pedal, it doesn't stop reving up. That shit runs 7's dawgggggg.

Yesterday I had a good one, let me help one imagine it.
I walk from shop class to the parking log ready to leave. I'm wearing my "Drifting 101" shirt, I get in my car and this country boy(eh redneck) yells "DRIFT OUTA HERE". I look at him cus I thought he said "HES OUTA ERE!". I leave and while I'm on the highway he revs his v6 truck at me, I turn my head and smile, shift down, and just gas it! I loose him and slow down until Im coasting, and then I pull to the side of the road, I see his truck and a cop in my rearview mirror, they both pull over behind me. The country boy gets out and says, "Damn! That probe is fast!", at the same time the police officer has a fire extinguisher spraying my exhaust! I get out with haste and look at the cop; hes red and sweating, he looks at me and sighs and says,"I own a 69 Mustang, its shot fire out the pipe too, I think you need to check for rod knock." Then I had to explain to both of them that its a rotary by using my hands and how flames sometimes shoot out. They didn't get it. So it became show and tell until the cop left. I was worn out. I didn't get a ticket either!!

everyone seems to love my car. i haven't taken it out of the garage since i bought it, so i haven't had to many stranger's comment yet.
the day i bought the car the first thing i did was go to autozone and buy some Bosch Icon wiper blades all around ($70 well spent) well they didnt have my car in the Bosch wiper blade book, so me and the parts guy went out with a 20" blade to see if it fit....as soon as he saw my car he said "thats a clean ass mazda!"...i said thanks and we went about our business...i found out that the fc uses 19" blades up front and 22" in the rear....i used 20" up front and 22" in the rear.
if you guys have never used Bosch Icon wiper blades...give them a shot, you will never use another wiper blade, yeah they are $20+ a piece, but they always work, and dont fall apart like cheap ass rain-x wiper blades or other knockoff's of the Bosch Icon.
my buddy is a hard core mustang guy and when i showed up in my FC, he didnt talk shit at all (i expected him to)...instead he loved it and knew it would be something that will eventually shut his mustang down. (he knows the quality of cars ive built in the past)
my other buddy wasnt to excited about my new FC at first, but after seeing how mint it is, and how "80's" it is..he likes it and cant wait to see what i do to it.
overall i got good respones.....my dad thought it was a mistake at first because he remembered my brothers old 87 GXl that had flooding problem's. but hes coming around.
i call parts stores some times of out boredom, and ask if the have piston rings for a '88 rx7,
or a cam shaft or a set valve guides lol.
i actually had one guy find a timing belt for a '87 rx7, he said "its the 16 valve right?", ahaha i had to hang up i didnt wanna laugh in his ear.
and when i was living in CT, i was changing the plugs on my boys fc, and these 4 guys walk up and ask
"hey this thing looks cool, what kinda car is it?"
- i say its a rx7.
"what engine this whip got."
- its a rotary.
"....... ... oh.... well how many cylinders is it."
--- so thinking in my head, "ok he doesnt know im not gonna be an ass".
- it doesnt have pistons its got two spinning triangles.
"oh.. ..... ....well its got 4 spark plugs, so its a four cylinder right?"
- yup and two glow plugs. i think i really lost them at that.
and this guy where i live now just bought a fc with a popped engine, the kid b4 him ran it outta coolant . anyway he finds me at work and says
