power fc numbers

Ok am about to perchase a power fc secondhand in working order.

Asked the guy what the numbers on it were and the reply was "the model serial number is FD3S 020-3228. there is also a number on a blue card thats present that is Fcc3 020-15391"

I understood that FD3S 020-3228 was for a 1996 onwards but the guy said it was working fine on his 1992 jap car.

Mine 2 is a 1992 jap import and am wondering if this power fc is ok for my car ?

Info appreciated

Yeah, that number is weird enough to make you think. That totally sounds like the '96-98 ECU. If you haven't seen it, here's my PowerFC FAQ -

http://www.clubrx.org/media/pfc/PowerFC_FAQ.pdf

I would get the guy to take a picture of the ECU connectors on the PowerFC to verify. I would make sure you're getting a good deal, too - they're new with commander all day long on Ebay for around 400 pounds plus shipping.

Thnx dale was hoping you would post as i have seen your FAQ (i have it on my HD).
I asked the guy what years it was for and he said it fit onto anything with a yellow wiring harness.
What am i looking for on the connectors that make it different from others.

Also i have a wideband LM-1 and LMA-1 that is monitoring all my outputs so that in mind do you thing that it would be ok to reset it to base map and slowly tune it with my mods.

HKS intake, DP, Midpipe, Catback, and small arc smic.

Im running on a HKS F-CON with gcc at the mo and im guessing that the PFC would be better.

BTW i cant have it tuned as i dont have anyone who is able for 200 miles and i work 24/7 (well feels like it), Oh and it comes with a commander and is cheap.

Get a Datalogit for tuning whether you get this particular PFC or not.

Datalogit is next on the shopping list but for now is base map on the pfc with a wideband so i can slowly and i mean slowly tune it be ok ?

HKS intake, DP, Midpipe, Catback, and small arc smic.
Oh i got a Innovate LM-1+LMA-2 wideband and Apexi AVC-R as well to make sure i dont go over 10psi

Target for the PFC is only 11psi with my AVC-R keeping the boost under control.

That pic is DEFINITELY of the 92-95 PowerFC that will work for you. I just compared it to the pics I took of my PowerFC when I got it, and it's identical. The '96+ connectors look VERY different.

I think you'll be good to go.
