Woohoo! Got to run my FD at the dragstrip

Well, I had a chance to take the FD down to Woodburn dragstrip tonight. I was hoping for some cooler weather, but i had to deal with temps in the mid 80s.

Here is a list of mods. 50k miles on the stock motor (Not a mod, but just for the back ground.) N1 dual tip, 3.5" MP and DP. 50mm HKS wastegate, XS cast manifold, HX35 turbo, m2 medium IC, Greedy elbo, Groundzero LIM, Crane HI-6, 850/1300cc injectors, Bosch 044 fuel pump, Power-FC tuned by Ralph@Groundzero (360rwhp)

60' 2.117
330 5.446
1/8 8.091
MPH 97.67
1000 10.340
1/4 12.206
MPH 121.99

I was pretty happy with the car overall, although I was hoping for my first pass into the 11s. Traction was very limited, due to me still running stock sized Faulken tires. Infact first pass, was nothing but tires spin through 1st, hit second gear, and had to lift twice to keep it straight. It was alot of fun tearing up the mustang/camaro guys though.

Do these numbers seem correct for a FD making 360rwhp?

I have some more pictures if anyone cares to see a stock looking FD with pretty sunsets. Let me know if you guys do. CJ

Congrats! nice times. I'm hoping to dip into the 11s and your story has giving me more confidence. I'm running 245 DRs and should be making upwards of 400hp on my T04R

BTW that is a clean FD man keep it up.

That's a great trap speed for the power you have! Have you done any weight reduction? Throw on some Nitto 245 drag radials to break into the 11's!

That trap is well above what I would expect at your stated rwhp mark. A perfect 60 ft on street tires would be a 1.8x and that would firmly net you an 11. I would estimate you are making at least another +50hp than stated if not more.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was a mustand dyno, and from what I understand, it reads lower than a dyno jet. The only down side to the night was my intake temps whent as high as 50C after a couple passes. At that point I decided I was done for the night.

I haven't done any weight reduction, besides removing the AC/PS....bolth are going back in fairly soon. CJ

Yes, being able to run the AC between runs is very nice.

I don't drag race, but do autox, and having the AC can really be nice.

Very nice !!!

You're easily making over 360rwh, if anywhere around 2900lbs w/ driver.

Get some Nittos Drags w/ more practice and 11's will be the normal:-)

Good luck
JD

I realy do need more tire. I don't know how to explain it, but in 3rd gear it feels like its right on the edge of traction. If the suspention get upset (bumps on the road or uneven surfaces, etc.) it will start to spin a bit in 3rd. At the track I think its hooking up, but I'm fairly certain, with anouther 25rwhp it would'nt hold.

last time I had it on the dyno, we had fuel pressure issues with anything above 16lbs. At 16lbs, the 044 dropped a lb. Ralph did'nt want to push it, and neither did I. Money/wife willing, I plan to run a 044 into a surge tank, then have a 044 for each fuel rail (3 pumps total). Probably something around -6 for each rail. This is what Ralph runs on his 685rwhp FD, so this should more than enough to reach my goal of 450rwhp.

JD, what kinda mph where you running with the twins?

CJ

No roll cage, maxed fuel system or any new mods.

Honestly, I don't even have the time anymore.
After months, I finally found some time last week to upgrade the fuel system.
Maybe soon I'll go make some test runs.

and you ? no track numbers?

JD

Pretty much the same, time is hard to come by these days and the whole car thing is getting old.

I plan on running mine in a few weeks, we'll see what happens. Heck, I've been saying 2 weeks since March

A single Bosch -044 should be able to flow plenty for 450 rwh.
I have one in tank right now and we'll see where it takes me.
They have a built screen inside the inlet but would like to add a filter on the inlet.

Twins on stock port = 122 mph
Twins on ported motor= 125 mph

I'm not to far away either. I'm about 7 miles to the south, out in the middle of the country. The pictures of my car where taken in the field that surronds my property. CJ
