I'm hoping to make it to Cayuga for June 4.

Will there be cops waiting at the entrance, like in the past, to check for emissions stuff? Should I drive the car or trailer it?

Cops actually check for emissions junk at drag strips? That makes me not want to go...

Yeah I actually got pulled over right infront of the track along with several other Honda's and other cars with rims. The cops were obviously picking out the "racers" anbd letting stock looking cars go through. Then everyone had to have their cars inspected by the MTO.
It really sucked, but luckly they had no idea what a rotary engine was LOL

Hey joe did you get pulled over before a cscs event or some other event? We have had a small issue with cops in the past, however we have dealt with that and they arent suppose to target our racers anymore.

This is not to say speed the whole way to the track, drive without plates, or come down to the track on your slicks.....and beleive people have done all of those wacky ideas

You gotta love when the cops wait for you at the race track.

Yeah I was driving down to Cayuga to a CSCS event, this was probably a couple years ago when I was driving my 82 FB. For the most part the car had everything that was needed to pass a visual test.
But my FC this year doesn't. I'd really hate to drive nearly 3 hours and end up having the car impounded. I might take my chance and drive on Sunday, give the motor a chance to break in on the way

yeah, that was awesome.. I still remember that

to "reduce street racing" we'll ticket everyone that tries to race legally!

made alot of sense to me

I'm going to stay away from these events because I like not having my car taken away from me, and not getting tickets. One of the supra guys near me got ticketed for not having DRL's even, his car is an '89 and has factory popup headlights with no provisions for DRL's, it's stock.

to be completely honest cops in front of our events have never really given out bullshit tickets. Although in the past we have had cops down the street pulling cars over the tickets were for more severe things.

One way or another we have spoken with the local law enforcment and the OPP and they have told us they will cut us slack. With the recent accidents do to street racing everyone is starting to realize that we NEED individuals to go to the track.

I do suggest that everyone driving there car down has it legal though. Do not run race slicks on the street, dont run a dumped exhuast off the manifold keep the car reasonable and you should be fine.

LOL. What's your car in for? What do you think of my snazzy interior? The car's covered in brakedust from the weekend, but one of the nice things about silver is that it doesn't show.

Any info on the cost of the events? I'd like to compete in the Pro street N/A class, but the road course sounds like fun.

Note For Those Driving To Caygua

In the past, yes po-po's have populated the entrance to the dragway....dunno on whether or not they'll be returning this year (I would guess so givenall the recent hoo-haw)

BUT

EVERY single year I have seen police during at least one of the major event weekends setup at Hwy 56 and Hwy 3 ( you would come through this intrsection if you're coming to Cayuga from Stoney Creek or exiting the QEW there) with a sniffer and the full nines.

I've seen a total of +$2000 worth of fines for things like missing EGR, no air pump etc between friends and I at this location. And these tickets were all issued on older vehicles, the newest being my 87 TII for not having a scondary cat in place. Yes thats right, you heard me. They had a book with a list of vehicles and all associated emissions equipment that came with said car and knew that mine car with two from the factory, they only saw one, and I got nailed. $350

Just keep in mind, if you'e heading that way to the drags this year - take a different route - I'd recommend shooting down Indiana Road, then to hwy 54, then back to 3.

I wouln't want to see any club members get they're rides towed (yes they were towing......my towing friends were happy......but not the owners) so take it as you will.

Have fun!!

I remember coming home from the last years grand bend event. and seeing a load of cops pulling people over....there were cars lined up getting tickets and inspected...It took me an extra 2 hours to get home by taking detours around the sting operations. I was VERY displeased at the OPP for doing this.

Going to Cayuga for 6:30 on Friday. Try to put in some first tracks, then off to the Pinery for camping. Anyone gonna be there Friday? Hopefully the gentlemen in blue won't be out yet.

The rain held out Friday long enough to get a 12.97 at 111 mph on 275 Hankook Ventus at 40 psi. First time at the 1/4 mile ever. Lots of room for improvement.

Either one.....thats waay too high! But a decent number

I just got back from todays event and the weather was great all day. I really wish my car was running, the road course looked like ALOT of fun!

My Hankook turbo was pushing crazy air!!!
Hankook's a tire. I'm quite aware 40psi is too much for the drag strip, but they are 40 series street tires, hence the 'room for improvement'. No drag tires yet.
