Because on the left front a main wiring harness is attached just behind. If you wear through the top of the liner you then wear through the electrical wiring...
yea you gotta be carefull, I had a friend whos tire ate through the liner and then the wiring...lets just say it wasnt pretty
here are some pics i shot today. I know i havnt posted any but as we sit. im waiting on the housings to get peripheral ported. (Put sleeve through them) and then build the motor. I pretty much have everything purchased already except for the plumbing which is my next step now. The brakes have been installed and brake line run and connected. I will next install the tranny with the dummy engine and start measuring the lengths for all the plumbing so i can order everything. im shooting for November to be completed but this all really depends on the engine builder.
Have you made a cover yet for your fuel cell,Most sanctioning bodies require you to seperate your drivers compartment from the fuel cell.Looking good though

Im sure for scca i will have to make a splitter for both the fuel tank and the oil tank. but for now im planning on running NASA to get the car set up. when im ready then i will finish teching the car for SCCA which will be the Points competion series i plan on running in. specificly GT2
Damn. There is definitely no mistaking that for a street car, haha. It's funny how small just the short block looks sitting in the engine bay with no accessories. Looks really good.

Got the Rotor housings in today. Along with Ianetti Ceramic Apex seals and also a set of Special Star Mazda Crank and water pullies. Next step is to send housings out to get machined and have Peripheral Port Sleeve installed.
Just for info, these are regular 13B GSL-SE housings and they will be machined around the area above the exaust to have a sleeve installed for Peripheral Port. I will post pics when i get them back. Hopefully around the weekend of the 28th.
Well im not aware of that rule but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. I can however assure you that i can not afford 2500.00 per housing. So if this is the case. I will be a happy NASA running MoFo.... LOL
Im using old school Front and Intermidiate plates and the rear plate will be a 3rd Gen Plate to mount to the subframe. As for the water o-rings. the engine builder uses double and then a special seal bonder to complete the bond. This works flawlessly on N/A Motors.

For SCCA racing don't you need to run MFR PP housings or whatever other authorized housings? I thought that home made housings are illegal.
In GT, any Peripheral Port Housing IS legal.
The correct name is "Alternate Rotor Housing"
The rules for GT as per the GCR states : The standart production or specified alternate rotor housing shall be used.
Many rule changes have come about in recent years once EFI was finally adopted for GT.
The GCR ( General Competition Rules & Specificationsm ) is available on lime at www.scca.com
It says approved alternates though, unless a homebuilt is an approved alternate I'd interprate the rule such that it's illegal.
I'd remembered this from reading Racing Beat's site where they said that their PP housings aren't legal in the SCCA, so if theirs aren't...
Anyway, it's probably not a big deal, they'll probably let you run with them anyway, and only the most anal competitor would protest over that. If not you can always run in SPO, or SPM (which is for the PP 13B?) in the SCCA.

If I may, I've run a 20b PP. Rx7 in SCCA as a GT-1 car for some years, in which time I've entered several Nationals, won a chanpionship, set a track record at my local track.....and no problems w/ SCCA even at a National level.
