Wheel weight?

Anyone know how much the stock 88 to 91 16" turbo/Gtu wheels weigh?

I am tired of losing BBS/Mazda caps and would like to replace the 15's with 16's.

And what size tire is recommended for the 16's? I do not care for the skinny tire(205) that these rx7's come with.

Bad news for you. The stock tire size on the T2/GTUs wheels were 205/55/R16. I forget what their weight is.

The mesh type are around 17 lbs I believe. Pretty light and are 16,7's. You can run a 225/50 in the rear.

'87-88 T2 rim is around 24lbs...
'89-91 T2 rim is around 16-17lbs

You can run a 245/50/16 out back BTW. The sidewalls do bulge a bit... but it is a lot of tire. But the 235/16 will work out better for most.

205's up front
245's rear

Thanks,

I found some earlier TII rims but I will wait and continue looking for the 89-91 ones. I do not want to add any more unnecessary weight. I am
trying to make my convertible handle/look better.

When I find them, I will probably use the 225's but it is good to know that wider tires can be fitted.

Anyone out there with pictures of TurboII rims with 225's/235's or 245's tires on them?

I would just buy the 3rd gen wheel and spacers if that's the case. That would be a really good setup, granted the whole thing would run around $600.00 total. But you're getting a wheel that 15-16 pounds, rounding up of course. They are a lot easier to find.
