Im About To Drop An Ls1 Into My........
TRASHCAN.....
seriously, im sick of reading all this b/s about piston swaps and crap. i dont know if its as bad in the1st and 3rd gen forums but i really think that the mods need to add a section for ls1 swaps so we dont have to deal with them. it seem like everyday i see another post like " thinking of throwing in an ls1" or "ditching the wankle" lets get that crap outta here.
post if you agree or not.

there is another section for ls1 swaps...its called "Other Engine Conversions" and its part of the Rotary Performance section. Maybe they should make the Other Engine Conversions section more visible?
oh yeah...IBTL.

Who the hell cares? This is the 86-91 RX7 section, last I checked it didn't say 13B anywhere, and last I checked a LS1 in the car, still says RX7 on the VIN.
I'm tired of reading stupid **** like this...

im just sick of people ranting on about how shitty rotarys are and how they cant wait to get rid of them and ****. the wankle is the heart of an rx7, and quite honestly a 7 without one isnt really a seven. im sick of people replying to everyones problems with "just switch a piston into it".

im sorry, but i just get fed up with seeing so many people bash rotarys. got into an arguement with someone replying to ericseven's post about his blown engine. ive got nothing against engine swaps to pistons, but i cant stand when people try to push other people to it. 90% of us with rotarys still have them cuz we love them, and ranting on after someone says they dont wanna swap out their rotary is just pointless.

Dreyko, give me one good reason to switch back to a rotary!! Don't give me the "less moving parts crap" cause that is not a good reason. Classic example of a rotard. That is why I can't wait to take my Ls1 Rx to the track. I can't wait to see the faces of the rotards, LOL.

also lets get this strait, i did not post this in this forum it was moved here. i posted this in responce to a multitude of posts in the 2nd gen forum because people are repeting that an ls1 should be swapped when the poster obviously doesnt want to do that. i have nothing against pistons or the people who do the swaps, but im sick of seeing people continue to try to push it on people who want to stay rotary. ok. pure and simple im sick of people continueously disrespecting the rotary as if it was a failed experiment.
once again i did not post this here, it was in the 2nd gen forums. i have nothing against you or your cars, just dont try to push other rotor heads into pistons if they dont want to.
there shouldnt be any problems with that.

Until then, it's still a myth, much like all of the anti-V8 propoganda floating around regarding weight, handling, etc.
Of course, the V8 swappers could just say RX stands for Reliably eXhilarating

your thread has entered our world now
I think DREYKO is angry and threatened... I dont know why people get angry and threatened about what engine choice people choose for a car.
Only with RX-7s or Hondas do people get so ticked over what engine to use.
Ok, so youre into it as an enthusiast. Why are you so angry like we just told you we had sex with your mom? The *FACTS* about why people do what they do are out there and have been out there for a long, long time. Its a preferential issue for a lot of people, for some its their budget (like myself). For others its reliability, and for a few its how far you can take it.
There is no way in hell a rotary will beat a v8 on a budget, or reliability at high power levels - the laws of physics and how much displacement it has are to blame. You also wont break 500 at the wheels with a rotary without a LOT of tradeoffs - spool time, reliability, COST, etc.
If its a image or community thing, then... fine! Just come out with that youre an enthusiast, not someone with something to prove or as if we're disrepecting you or slighting you - we're not! You didnt make the damn car man! You bought it from a dealer or someone who had it before you, and it originally came from a factory in Hiroshima.
Its a damn car man. LOL. Just because some people see it more as a pre-assembled kit car becuase of how good the chassis is (especially bang for buck) instead of a complete package like you do doesnt mean we necessarily hate the rotary engine. Its just not a big deal for us.

I really wish someone would explain to me why consumers get sucked into the rotary fantaticism the mazda engineers have. I really dont ******* get it. Its a unique engine, zippadedoda. Why is it being defended like a family member or some point of honor... what, is this some ROTARY GANGSTA TURF we're steppin on?
To be brutally honest if Mazda stuck a 2.5 liter turbo piston engine in a RX-7 it would get better mpg, be more reliable, make shittons of power, with better low end, and would have made em more money. Sheesh. Look at an EJ25, or a RB25, or a ford 2.3 stroked out to 2.5 with good heads/cam/turbo (on either of those three engines). Hell, I'll come out and say it - if Ford put their SVO mustang/Turbo Coupe's Turbo 4 in a RX-7 it would have been a better car as long as Mazda made the chassis, not the ford guys!
Mazda bet everything on that engine, and when its performance didnt really measure up they engineered around it one HELL of a car. But the bottom line is the car makes up for the engine, not the other way around. Every single swapped RX-7 out there demonstrates this in an extremely obvious manner.
But come on, saying a rotary is "made for a light weight car with good handling" is nonsense. The chassis being good or bad is a seperate variable... plus you dont design a chassis for a specific engine unless its engine bay is simply THAT small. You can put any othe engine in it (and its been done to PROVE it) and its suddenly on the level of a corvette or an exotic with tires and suspension upgraded to handle the higher power. I'll admit a 13b is physically really small, but thats not an issue with a well designed car. The FC and FD demonstrate this graphically.
Honda's the current king of low displacement high rev motors, and turbo mills are made by several companies The 2.6 liter rotary that mazda makes doesnt stand out that much in either regard unless you argue specific output (assuming it is a 1.3 liter, which it is not
) and even then, thats all it does.... make some meaningless figure such as hp/liter, but the power it puts down, and doing it reliably, it does not.
The new "1.6" liter rotary with wider rotors and better efficiency due to new metallurgy and geometry might solve a lot of that, but then again, it might not. Until then, the only thing rotaries are good for is making money for shops that do rebuilds/porting or sell performance parts for them, and let ricers get off on the uniqueness of it, the high revs, and specific output... but thats really all it does. Stroke the egos of enthusiasts, which any engine does for its enthusiast group.
So yeah... WHY so defensive about that stupid engine? You got some arguement that will hold water with facts and proof?

Stop starting **** in my forum. That post was pure flame bait. Sure, there have been other touchy posts in this thread, but you just made two that were damn near back to back. Decided to post the second part since your previous post didn't fire anyone up?
His first post, and this whole thread is flamebait, dude. Im not starting anything. Lets be honest with ourselves here.
Frankly I personally get ticked at people regurtating purely emotional crap (for no reason other than their emotional attachment to the engine and the marketing/ enthusaist community ****) at people who do something for whatever reason and stir **** up themself. So, Im calling him on it! We have REASONS we do what we do, he comes in with a bunch of emotional bullshit.
If you want me to shut up and be on my way, I will. Its your forum, and your call if I should shut my big fat mouth
But honestly, if people are going to do this ****, why not call them on it? If they see the facts and why we do what we do, maybe they'll shut up or at least REALIZE What theyre doing - acting like 5 year olds who feel pissed off becuase we dont like 'their' engine... when they didnt even make it - and if they did, the FACTS of what it is are still what they are.
What I said is offensive but its also all true. He stirred **** up with his nonsense here, so I'm answering back with some facts.

Stating facts and figures does not fall into the same category as attacking someone's personal beliefs. Their personal belief is keeping the rotary, which for some reason you despise.
The Other Engine Conversions section is not ANTI ROTARY. I am not anti rotary, I just choose to use V8 power. You are spewing more anti rotary comments than anyone else and they are not needed.
