I'm not sure what the sign of a failing metering oil pump are, but I do know a new one will cost about $1200-$1400 according to the three part shops in my area. Fortunately for me, my pump works, but had a cracked solenoid. The local parts stores could not replace the solenoid only - so out came the JB Weld. No problems any longer. If I would have had to replace the pump, I probably would have removed it, and just premixed oil in the gas. The damn thing almost costs half as much as an engine.

Good Luck,

Dustin
