17inch wheels, what about the gears and speedo?
hey guys im getting me some 17inch rims and tires real soon, but i need to know what else i am going to have to do to accomodate these...i know i'll need an adapter to bolt them on, and someone told me that they would totally affect the gear timing and the speedometer! help!
I don't know about the gear timing but as for the speedo, here is a tire size comparison thing to help you.
Tire Size Calc
But to save you time. If your stock tires are 205/60/15 like mine then a 215/45/17 will about do it. Otherwise you have to go like 245/40/17 to get closer. But that takes one fat wheel.

discount tire co and tire rack both have websites that will answer your question but its pretty simple... if you don't wanna mess up the speedo and stuff just remember that for every inch you increase the rim size you need to subtract one from the tire profile. ie:bigger rim=low profile tires.
