yet another car won't start thread

we'll be going through the process of basic troubleshooting, but i wanted to put this up just in case anyone had some specialized knowledge.

car is a hack job modded s4 GXL that was broken into. radio was ripped out and some wiring was exposed under the glove compartment. passenger mirror was smashed up.

car started fine before we started working on repairs. while working on repairs we noticed the headlights did not pop up. we pulled the dash apart and discovered the wires for the headlight switched were twisty tied together. we pulled the negative battery cable and the owner resoldered the wires. the headlights popped up. we taped up all the loose radio wires with electrical tape as a precaution.

i was putting the dash back together and decided to try starting the car before i tucked all the wiring away. as soon as i tried to start the car, the entire car lost power. i visually checked all the fuses under near the driver side kick panel. they seemed fine.

the 80A main fuse looked a bit janky so we replaced it with a oem main fuse from a parts car.

i pulled the battery from my car. after connecting it, the car had power to accessories, dash, lights, etc. still no response when you try to start it.

i also noticed a hidden switched in the ash tray. we tried flipping it both ways. still no response from the car. we may have triggered some kind of kill switch. wiring on the car is pretty fucked up. looks like there are remnants of an alarm, radio, after market speakers, etc.

we're going to do basic troubleshooting when it gets a little warmer. if anyone has any ideas beyond the typical, throw em at me. thanks for reading.

the radio as odd as this may see, could have triggered an alarm when the car checked for the radios signal and found nothing it could have triggered a killswitch,
or some of the wires you simply taped could have needed to be grounded which, not likely but could have caused it to cut out.
...ehh(cracks fingers) or one of the wires is grounding out and it shouldn't such as the possible missing alarm, if the theif cut the wire to the alarm the thing might have had a failsafe that would kill the car which is probably why you still have the car but not the I.C.E. im thinking that its the last one...it seems to be the most logical (well to me)
i hope i helped, and if i didnt, then my brain hurts for nothing
