It's only necessary for stock closed-loop MAF setups so you don't run rich between shifts. If you have a standalone that uses open-loop and a MAP sensor you can vent to the atmosphere. This BOV stays open under vacuum to bypass the turbo restrictions so it's recommended that a K&N filter is fitted to the dump fitting, that's how I run mine.
In other words, it is optimal to recirculate on the FC, since it has a MAF fuel injection system. The FD does not measure air flow (it has a "speed-density" FI system), and so can vent to atmosphere.
Quick video of a run at 12psi with Synapse BOV going off. The sound is louder that what the video camera recorded, but it at least gives you an idea. Nice crisp sound.
Sorry, never saw this thread. If you haven't seen the updated tuning manual, we're standardizing this configuration for all Synchronic BOV customers after further testing and development. So, please make sure that you are running a boost-only source to Port C:
I remember a topic being brought up about these products on another forum previously and it was pointed out that in a few of the videos they weren't using proper vacuum sources for the comparison BOV's, and a few other things that made their product react quicker/smoother, and the others (IIRC a tial) react differently than it normally would... no idea if those are the videos that are still circulating or not, but there was quite the controversy over what appeared to be really shady advertising...
I'm still on the fence, haven't done much of my own research yet though.
There is honestly no doctoring on our videos, but that is simply our word on a forum. So . . .
In the next couple of weeks, there will be about 50+ retailers that will have a "try before you buy" kit in their retail location, with every flange we make, spread throughout the country. You will basically be able to drive up, say "I want to try the Synchronic BOV" no strings attached.
We are confident enough about how the product works that we want people to try it before passing judgement and be able too compare it with what they already have. Do you know of any other BOV mfg willing to put their product on the line?
