Help with front cover "locator" dowels

Here is the issue. I'm in the process of putting the S4 front cover on an S5 motor for my 88 gxl. One of the locator dowels for the front cover is stuck in the S5 front cover and the other one is stuck in the block (good). Does anyone have suggestions for removing the dowel that is stuck in the S5 front cover? I don't really need the S5 front cover so I'm about to take the cutting wheel to it to get the dowel out and continue with the swap. But if there is a way to get it out without cutting please feel free to share. Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have a set of those at my disposal. Looks like the cutting wheel it is. I guess its just more AL scrap to take to the yard.

see the tutorial video of Pineapple Racing in this forum. They use a 12mm x 1.50 tap and make threads inside the dowel pin. Then use a hammer puller with a bolt or something like that and tighten in his place (they use the original Mazda tool). Then begins to hammer the puller and the dowel pin will came out.

Wow I feel like an idiot. I never thought of taping it and using a slide hammer. Thanks!! Hopefully I have a tap that size.

You can also generally use a pilot bearing puller.
