day before rotorfest; nasty voltage draw: no cranky

twas the day before rotorfest
car didnt start
she wouldnt turn over
not even a fart.

This is just unreal. I went out this morning, she started right up, after sitting for like a week. Turned the car around so I had the front facing the garage door. I grabbed some tools, checked things out, changed oil, changed wheels (this turned out to be a 4 hour project) one stud snapped on right rear no biggy I still had four, figured i'd change it on Monday. When I went to left rear, 3 snapped. I'm like no f*****g way. Cant ride on just 2, that coulnd't wait till Monday. Good thing I keep all kinds of stuff on hand, I had a few here on the shelf. I went to take the rotor off, and those little phillips screws wouldnt budge. So I said the hell with them, went and got my drill and extractor set and went at it (had them on hand too). When I was all done with everything, figured I'll a little ride, and make sure everything is ok. NO DICE! When to turn the key, nodda. I knew the battery was good, but I checked it any, battery was ok. I had a meter on the battery, and when key set to acc., voltage drop down to 7 volts, turn key and nodda. Took battery out of girlfreinds, which I just bought last month. I know that was good, and still same thing, 7volts showing on acc., and no cranky. I know this should acctually be posted in the FC section, but since this is keeping me from going to rotorfest, I thought maybe I could get some quick help. This has not been my day. I went back over everything I did 3 times over, and found nodda. WHERE does my voltage draw come from all the sudden. Please help, I wanna go, I missed last year. In the mean time I will keep brainstorming here.

Do you have an aftermarket stereo with an amp? Thats just wierd to see that much of a drop when you turn the key to ACC. What is the voltage with the battery sitting there with the cables hooked up and nothing turned on?

grounds checked: no amp in car; battery reads 12.58 volts sitting, and i also tried jumping with another vehicle, and same thing, down to seven when turned to acc.

Hmm, maybe pull all under hood fuses and then turn on ACC and see if there is still a draw?

I'm trying to remember what else you can run with the key on ACC? Like what can you turn on or what sees power?

At least you have options, I'm stuck with my smokey ones!!!

What kind of tester do you have? If you can do a load test that might help.

If you havent done so yet, start pulling fuses and relays...good luck
