I'm new so go easy. I have a new to me 84 GSL SE 13b EGI.
The problem i'm having...... the car will start fine at first. But if I stop to fill with gas it will turn and turn but not start. I was told not to touch the gas pedal when starting (EGI). But if I hold the pedal to the medal and crank it for quite awhile it may start....but if not walk a way and come back in a hour and it will start without touching the gas pedal. Also if the car jerks around no starting. I was wondering if anyone has an idea out there as to what the hell is going on. I heard maybe the following to check. gas tank/filter/pump?????
Tanks

Hey, welcome to the forum. I'm not really a genuis when it comes to no starts, but check out the faq page at the top of the forum, check out the archives, and use the search button as much as possible. It's a must that new rx7 owners post pics of their car. Where's fredricton? Hope you get this problem solved, it's probably been covered a few times throughout the form so search around. God bless

Oh rotary god who art in heaven, give us this our daily rev to redline and forgive us for owning piston engines, as we forgive others for buying them. Lead us not into temptaion to use cheap oil, but deliver us from carbon buildups. Amen
Looks pretty good. Always need more pictures though, thats not enough . Is there any rust on it, under it? How many miles, owners, etc.? Is this your first rotary? If so check out how the rotary engine works. Its amazing and you'll never want to go back to pistons. Oh ya, the most common places for rust on these cars is behind the storage bins and under the wheel wells. Just check everywhere to make sure, rust is a killer
How many miles on the engine and have the injectors ever been removed and serviced? Your engine shows the classic signs of leaking injectors when it won't restart warm. When this happens. pull the engine fuse from under the dash, hold the pedal to the floor and crank, when the engine catches, replace the fuse. If you get good at it, you unclip one end of the fuse, then push it in when it begins to start.
Pulling the fuse disables the fuel pump, holding the pedal to the floor clears the raw fuel that has flooded the combustion chamber. You were 1/2 way there on your own.
There are some good writeups in the FAQs on the SEs, a few in the archives.
Welcome to the forum and the Darkside.
Online FSMs is in my sig line. For some reason the 13B section is missing from the 85 manual.
Let me throw this out there too (while I don my flame suit).
How near is the gas station? If the car is not warmed up yet and you turn it off, I've read it will flood. A solution to prevent this (if the car is not warmed up) is to rev it up to 3000 rpms, keep it there, turn the key off, and simultaneously press the gas pedal to the floor and keep it there until the engine dies. Works for me.
