Ohhh what 2 do what 2 do, Help!

Okay so my 88 gxl is just kind of sitting in my back yard. Dont get me wrong i'd love to drive it but my smog is expired and with the new exhaust system I know it wont pass smog (pacesetter headers, dual pipes and no cat convert), and in cali thats a death wish for a car.It has 140,000 miles which is a quite a bit, but it runs well other than the fact that the clutch is going on it. Bodys nice and the interior isnt too bad....So what im getting at is what should I do with it? Is it worth the money it needs? Could it ever pass smog? It would make a cool racecar but who knows with all the miles it has. If I decided to sell it what would be a good asking price? I dont think I want to do that though unless I just continue to let it sit.

Any Ideas????

There's a thing in the FAQ on passing emisions. Maybe borrow a friend's cat temporarily? haha. And some pictures would help determine a fair price.

140k isn't bad, even 200+k might be okaya. Depends on how it was treated.

A lot of people on these forums could tell you how to cheat smog ($150 bribe, etc.). Or you could get a performance cat like Bonez. There are also guides all over the forums involving alcohol, air pumps and other crazy things. You still have your other emissions hardware, right? (air pump, etc.).

No experience with cheating smog myself

. I just stay legal and don't have to worry. There are plenty who do cheat smog, but I'd be careful w/o getting help/tips from them first.

If you still have all your emissions hardware you could always pop in a performance catalytic converter, get a major tune-up, fill up with Chevron supreme and warm up your car before the smog test. Might not be enough in some cases, though.
