Help? Clicking sound near my gas fill door

My car makes a clicking sound near my gas filler door. My release doesn't work. The metal tab where the gas door latches is rusted off. Well something makes a clicking sound near the door so I assume there is a elec. switch near the gas cap/filler? It clicks like every 10 sec. When my lights are on you can see the inst. gauges flicker when this click happens. I tried looking back there but only saw the mechanical release part of the mechanizm. Wtf is this? Is it some wire sensor thing related to the gas filler door? How do I stop it?

the clicking sound is your electric fuel pump which is located inside your gas tank. when the ignition is on, you will hear the pump, hopefully not too loudly.

the tab on your gas tank door is the spring which pops the door open when you pull on the mechanical (you have that right) release for the door.

I thought we had an in-tank pump. You should be able to get a new release mechanism at a junk yard, too. I've gone though 3 because the damn plastic thing keeps snapping off.

This clicking is coming from the right rear quarter panel.

I don't have auto adj. susp. This clicking comes from where the fuel filler door is. It's not the fuel pump.

could it be the light on the bumper that is possibly shorting or something... I know I have lights (side markers) on the bumper near that area. Thats all I can think of with the fact that your lights dim from it...
