Wassup peeps...now BEFORE I get a million replies to search the forum...I have already and can't seme to find what i'm lookin for....here's the deal...
I just bought a Stage 2 ported reman'd from RX7Store...and I was all set and ready to install it in the car and get the single turbo kit i planned to install. Things happen and as it always seems I got some unforseen bills that came my way and now the RX7 is on hold until who knows when. My question to whoever may be able to help me is how would I go about storing the engine for long term...it's basically right out of the crate they sent it to me in...hasn't been installed or nothing. I don't want my 3+ grand to go down the crapper cuz I couldn't get the engine installed or anything...Ummm....can anyone help me out with this?? Or would you think it would justbe smarter to just sell the damn thing and get another one down the line?? Thing that sucks is that I sent my core back to them and the whole nine...so I mean if I do sell this engine and buy another one I'll be paying extra cuz i won't have a core...regardless....if I CAN in fact be able to store this thing...how should I go about it?? it still has the break-in oil in it and everything...like I said I got it less than a month ago...and I don't wanna wait too long with it...
Any help, suggestions, or points in a direction would be greatly appreciated...thanx again...

Shouldn't be too hard to store for long term. Put a small amount of oil in the motor itself and turn it over by hand. Then, cap up ALL the "holes" in the motor (oil, water, and air passages) and put a tough plastic bag over the whole thing so it's sealed up. I think it should be able to sit for quite some time with no problems.

And I shouldn't have any problems with it being that it hasn't even been broken in or anything?? I'm just weary about it cuz i just dropped 3g's on it and it would suck donkey nuts if the engine suffered from sitting around, you know...
But I will take what you said into consideration and begin prepping it...thanx man...
I think the vast majority of problems come from coolant that lays in the passages, or worse, a bad coolant seal so that it's in the combustion chamber.
A little engine oil, as Dale said and keeping it in a relatively constant temperature/humidity location should be all you need.

The fact that the engine hasn't been broken in won't cause you any problems from the sitting in storage. As the others said, making sure that rust and corrosion won't build up in the engine while it sits is the big concern. Sealing up the intake, coolant, and oil lines leading to the engine after coating the the combustion chambers by squirting some oil into the plug holes and turning the engine over a few times, as well as "bagging it" (as Dale suggested) and keeping it in a dry and cool place should be fine.
not the same thing as a rotary, but should let you rest a little easier: my friend and I just pulled out a Demon motor (mopar 318 or something like that) that his dad had stored when he was 17 (his dad is now significantly older than that) and with some carb cleaner and some oil it ran. He said he just oiled it, plugged it and its moved with him 3 times since then to where it was sitting when we got it (in a garage, with a cabinet/work bench built around it covered with garbage bags).
Excellent...Thank yo all for the advice...Hopefully I won't HAVE to store it for long...If this money comes thru that I been waiting on I'll be able to get teh Turbo Kit I want and not have to worry about no storing of engines...Finger crossed...
