Forged Components
Hi all, I am doing a JDM 20B rebuild and I am looking for a few forged components. I would like forged aluminum or steel rotor housings and rotors. Preferably stainless steel (maybe a company does custom parts?). If you could direct me to some that would be great! Also, does anyone know where I can get porting and balancing done for this engine? For that matter, can anyone direct me to some manufacturers of aftermarket parts for this engine? Thanks!

I think Racing Beat is your best bet. Just a word of warning though, make sure you begin by telling them that you are a multi-millionaire and just want something different for your show car. If you don't say that up front they will think you are an idiot, and in order to get rid of you they will just say that they can't do it.

Some people just don't enjoy, thinking, reading and researching. All the information is here on the forum for you to find but it has to start with a goal and a means to an end. If you plan on spending less than 100,000$ on your car forget any of the components you are talking about.
20B is 50% bigger than the 13B-rew so what do you think is more expensive....

Um, yeah.
Rebuilt 13B-REW with parts and labor: About $3,000-$8,000, depending on what needs to be replaced.
20B with one-off custom forged parts, porting, balancing, engineering and labor: Somewhere between $150,000 and $2,000,000, depending on tooling costs.

Now that people (including myself) have had a pot shot at you. You should do some searching and figure what your goals are. There are people making plenty of horsepower with stock internals and even untouched blocks and just a specific turbo combination. What you do is up to you, but these are not even remotely the same as piston motors in anything more than they are 4 stroke air pumps that we use to drive our vehicles of choice and happen to consume gasoline.
Any other questions about building these motors?

Here it is trully.
mazda gsl se rotor housings about 1500. for 3
peripheral port mod is about 1200. for all three
you can get 3 aluminum rotors for about 6500.00
turbosmart aluminum fat plate about 4000. 00
racingbeat aluminum side plates 6000.00
20b custom e-shaft from jeff bruce 1600 shipped
Mazdaspeed drysump front cover kit 4000.
ceramic 3mm apex seals 3300 all three rotors
mazda oem 20b seals and springs and gasket kit about 1000.00
Misc. engine mods done by various machine shops 2000.00
Balance Rotating assembly 2000.00
Engine builder fee 1500 to 3000.00
this brings you to a really rough estimate of about $25000.00 just for the short block. you will then have to determine and decide weather your going na or turbo and that will determine the next half of the build. you will have expenses in intake and exaust manifolds EFI or Carb exaust and engine lubrication and cooling.
giving it the highest possible estimates that i can configure. and i have been involved in this for a bit to consider my expierience although minimal at least credible.
figure between materials and labor about
2500.00 for full exaust
3500.00 for intake with 3 throttle bodies EFI
4500.00 for turbo and intercooler and pipes if you go this route
3000.00 for cooling both water and lubrication
This is really estimated on the highest possible scenario i would say about an estimated 15000.00 to complete the long block
this gives you a total of about $40,000.00 on the high high side. you may even figure the possibility of going as high as 50,000.00 but this builds you a Rotary engine unlike any out there. up in the lines of that the Japs in mazda may build for exibit.
this is way lower that the rediculous estimates thrown above. if you have the money and the dream to really put something like this together then you just need the right people.
I hope that this post helps and if you have any further questions feel free to contact me privately

I think that the first thing that you must realize is that you can make an easy and dependable 600hp without all of the extremes that you are thinking about with stock housings and rotors as your building blocks. And that 600hp in a 2800lb car
is absolutely wicked to the point of being difficult to put to the ground effectively. So don't even think about those kinds of measures, spend more money on the brakes and handling, you're going to need it. I know-I've been there.
