Search for threads discussing cat-backs and sound clips. The quietest aftermarket cat-back is the Racing Beat dual tip. The loudest cat-back are any canister style mufflers such as the Apex’i N1. The quietest straight-thru setup is a midpipe with Borla XR-1 muffler. A high-flow catalytic converter is a good compromise of performance and emissions absorption. Changing the engine porting or modifying the stock turbos to run non-sequentially will also increase noise.
I would only want my car to be loud if it sounded like a V8, so I went with the RB duals and its slightly louder than stock, but sounds much deeper. Looks stock except for being much shinier, I always have people asking about it.
the best(and rather unused) cat back to me is the Greddy SP. it is a DEEP growl but still lets the rotary sound shine through. that with the resonated midpipe is just badass. its rather nice at idle and a few k above but when you get on it it lets you remember why you like to!

It looks better and is much better made than the stock unit. I've never actually measured them, but I believe the Racing Beat dual tips are bigger than stock too.
But what I really want to know is the Racing Beat dual tip exhaust lighter than the stock unit? Has anyone actually weighed them side by side?
in terms of how it sounds it all about if you want loud or quiet, aside from that there all about the same. hi flo cats, mid pipes, reonated midpipes, downpipes all the change the tone a bit, but other than that and how they look, they're the same.
Apex'i GT Spec is probably definetely the loudest and throatiest from up close experience which is what I have on my FD. I think titanium exhaust have an odd sound to them but are lightweight so yeah...my opinions.
The best i've heard was my old Border Racing but it was extremely loud on the highway. I speacial ordered a Buddy Club Spec IV and six months later I got a Spec III in a Spec IV box "lol" and they still don't have Spec IV's out. Anyhow, I wasn't much quieter even with the resonator in the exhaust pipe untill I added a Spiral Flow in my mid pipe and now at wot it sounds sorta like a jet plane inside and a crotch rocket from the outside but at least my ears don't bleed.
Note: The bigger the port, the louder the exhaust will be.

So here's one that hasn't been asked before (that I've seen). Which is the most *aggressive* sounding exhaust? That doesn't mean annoying and raspy (Apexi N1 duals lol) or "what exhaust?" (RB duals lol). I mean a turn-your-head-cuz-DAMN-that-sounds-aggressive exhaust?
I heard the JGTC NSX Exhaust, and I could NOT believe it. It sounded like there was a 1000+ monster under the hood...and the car was practically bone stock minus the exhaust! lol. Then again, it's an $1800 exhaust, but man oh man, I woulda paid that HAPPILY if they had an exhaust that aggressive for the FD...
