i modified an OMP following this thread so i can run 2 stroke: https://www.rx7club.com/rotary-car-performance-77/diy-2-stroke-mop-write-up-pics-372329/

it's installed on the motor but i am waiting on the tank. hopefully it won't leak but i still have my original OMP if it does.

here's some pics of mine after modifying it, sorry for the crappy iphone (still rocking the original iphone) pics:

Very interested in seeing how this OMP mod comes out. I have the RA adapter, but this is a much more economical solution if it works. You may want to run some premix until you know for sure though.

i'm confused..... so you basically add the plate between the omp and the front cover to block off the oil from the oil pan and run a hose to another added tank filled with 2-stroke correct?

why not just block it off and run 2-stroke in the tank? i used to race motocross when i was younger and i must say if you drive the car a lot your gonna spend a crap load of money on 2-stroke oil. i just premix with cheap oil!!! its cost effective and cleans the engine bay up and gives you less areas to leak anything.

The benefit of running 2 strokes on a dedicated reservoir vs premix on a tank of gas is best to none IMO, at least not with a mechanical OMP. Now, people in FDs might argue that engine is not getting fuel on decel, hence not receiving premix upon decel. However, blocking off dirty engine oil to burn as a lubricant is why OP choose to modify the OMP vs premix. Burning the dirty engine oil might result in excessive carbon build up, and running 2 strokes can result in a cleaner combustion and as steam cleaning if u will. No visual result or power gain, but i bet when u open up the engine for a rebuild, you can tell the difference..

but if your premixed your not using dirty oil from the crank case...........

idk with all the 2-stroke oils i've used ( that was worth using ) oil is thicker than 2-stroke. i do know that at least in piston engines when you run 2-stroke that if you don't run the right ratio that you will burn a hole in the top of the piston and from everything i've read and looked up that the ratio of oil/ gas in a rotary motor is still in debate

Come to think of it the oil in my crank case has never gotten dirty.... I haven't changed my oil in over 4000miles because everytime I check it it's as clean as when I put it in, but in every rx7 I've had the omp lines leak like crazy so I block it off and clean the motor up

modified OMP and oil tank are installed. no leaks but have to keep an eye on it just to make sure.

also got the fuel neck attached to the widebody fender. ended up using a piece of aluminum tubing and enlarging the existing fuel opening. fuel door is also installed but it has not way to stay closed as i'm not using the electric fuel door opener. trying to find a manual locking door so if u've got one, please let me know.

widebody see's the sun for the first time in a few months:

you may not be able to see but the rear fenders are just bolted on. i am not molding them in.

drove the car for about 10 miles today. still having issues with the throttle as seen from my post here: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/help-troubleshooting-throttle-972310/
