Arrow SBG Wilwood Track Day Kit

We are proud to introduce our new Wilwood Track-Day Brake System. Building on the success of our AP Competition Brake System, we produced this brake kit, with the intention of bringing race-inspired engineering to the broader motorsports market. Utilizing many of the specifications of our AP kit, we have designed what is in essence, a light-competition brake system, employing high-end track & street components. The result is a system which provides incredible performance for cost, accessible to the broader driving enthusiast market, which can be easily upgraded to race-performance components if you choose.

Forged Superlight Calipers use the same 20mm Brake Pads that our AP kit uses. These not only add additional thermal barrier between the rotor and caliper, but will also last longer than a standard competition brake pad. Many other calipers use pads that are 12-17mm’s thick resulting in reduced thermal insulation (potentially more brake fluid boiling), and significantly increased pad replacement intervals. In essence you're getting more brake pad material for the same cost of a set of brake pads. Thanks to using a very common pad shape, replacing pads will also be significantly cheaper and easier to source.

Our SBG Premium Brake Rotors have been designed to provide the highest possible performance for cost. Our design utilizes race-inspired directional veins, which drastically increases air flow compared to a stock, straight vein rotor. Our proprietary slot design improves the responsiveness of braking, with better bite, and prevents excessive brake dust build up, keeping brake components clean and improving mechanical engagement. Optionally this kit is offered with an upgrade to AP Racing Floating Rotors for extreme track use.

This is the perfect package for customers looking for the maximum bang for their buck when it comes to brake performance.

Our Package Includes:

• Wilwood Forged Superlight Calipers
• 6061 Billet Caliper Mounting Brackets
• SBG 325x32mm Solid Mount Premium Brake Rotors or Optional 325x32 Floating AP Rotors
• SBG Designed 2024 T351 Aluminum Rotor Hats
• DOT Approved Stainless Steel Brake Lines with dirt/abrasion sleeves
• Full Pictorial Installation Guide

Thanks for the weight Rich and Matt - damn that's a light caliper! Anyone have the factory caliper weight for one more layer of comparison?

That aside, this Wilwood kit's pretty awesome especially with the range of pad options

Good stuff

Not sure if I missed it but are these 6 piston or 4? And is there more options to getting 355mm rotors. I do know that 355-4mm rotors with 6 pot calipers require at least 18" wheel.

355mm rotors ain't gonna happen, it's too large and front biased for most peoples cars. We do have a Monster AP Racing kit with 6 pot fronts and 355mm rotors (and matching 4 pot rear), its EXTREMELY expensive and totally overkill for 99.9% of cars.

We can look into a 6 piston option later but there's functionally no benefit for this rotor and pad size... it's just two more pistons and a heavier caliper (plus the cost would be significantly higher). This is the best balance of weight and performance for the FD, with a SUPER affordable cost for a track worth BBK. Performance and cost wise we've beaten out Stoptech and other "entry level" BBK's with huge performance gains and massive weight drop for the caliper.

*** Just FYI to everyone interested we are now OUT of kits for the SBG rotors (as of this afternoon we have had 10 pre-orders to date, some red some black). We are now ordering more rotors, but we didn't expect these to sell out as fast as they are. We'll have another 10 sets coming and customers can continue to pre-order but please be aware brake kits are on a first-come first serve basis, due to the volume of pre-orders. ***

Great looking kit!. A few questions:

1. What are the piston sizes?

2. What is the cost for replacement rotors?

3. I know the Wilwood 6 piston kits had horrible brake line routing and used an angled NPT fitting on the caliper (some worried about an angled fitting because it can loosen if struck by something). Have you guys remedied these issues in your kit?

4. Any chance you've tried fitting these under 17" RPF1's? (I'm almost certain they won't fit, but it's worth asking)

Availability will depend on how popular they are and how many runs we do. The price will be much higher after this initial run though. As far as BBK's go, (especially performance oriented BBK's) these are dirt dirt cheap. We're trying to spread the word with the first release.

The AP Floating rotors are about a half pound heavier due to the higher vane count and increased hardware.

That's the AP setup, our front rotors will match our rear competition kit, but it's a similarly looking design wise.

1.Piston sizes are the essentially the same effective as our AP kit at roughly 41mm average. This was chosen to pair with our rear kit or be used on its own, and allow the possibility to upgrade to our rear in the future. If you are dead certain you will keep the stock rears indefinitely and not upgrade in the future, we CAN special order them with smaller pistons at 32mm. There's even a 35mm varient if you happen to be running 99 rears. These are all special order but we can supply them with your kit for no cost increase.

2. Cost of replacement rotors would be $125 each for the solid mount versions, $245 each for AP floating.

3. Angled NPT fittings are no good. Straight NPT fittings however are totally acceptable. All Wilwood caliper inputs are NPT but we use a straight NPT into the caliper with a flare fitting on our custom line going to the caliper, along with a capture nut that sits on the suspension. Everything works as stock... there's no worry of them coming loose or getting hit by anything any more than you'd be concerned with a rock hitting a stock soft line. Anything can happen, but these are very secure, and need to be. You can hang from these lines without breaking them and fold them in half, these are the same materials we use on our competition brake kit, just reworked to fit the Wilwood caliper.

4. RPF1's not yet. You can use our caliper template for the AP Competition kit... the sizing is nearly nearly identical, like a millimeter difference here and there but the Wilwood has a few mm more clearance in certain areas actually

I like those answers! I'm happy to hear that the replacement rotors will be cheaper than the AP's, that was my main concern.

By my calculations, the nominal brake bias (aka, before the proportioning valve opens) with stock rears:

Stock (36mm piston and smaller rotors) - 68.2% front
Wilwood 32mm pistons - 65.1% front
Wilwood 35mm pistons - 69.5% front
Wilwood 41mm pistons - 75.8% front

Luckily, all of the Wilwood FSLI caliper options are super cheap and readily available. So they can be swapped out to "adjust" brake bias.

Anyway, I'm sold. Look for my order with 35mm calipers.

15 Kits sold so far, we've got 5 left at intro pricing $1275. This is a one time introductory pricing to get the first batch of kits out there. If we group buy these in the future the best we'll be able to do is $100 off retail which is $1600 base, and that may be going up as parts prices from Wilwood are slated for an increase later this year. This is DIRT CHEAP for a track-worthy BBK.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up and submitted payments so far. At this point we're waiting on final stages of machining, before anodizing and shipping! We're excited to get these in everyone's hands for summer.

Thanks for the orders everyone! They're still tricking in, and we're nearly out of pre-order spots.

Also just a note, it's easy to forget (we don't) that the only reason we're still around developing new parts for the FD (which should have been a dead chassis by now by most measures) is because of the overwhelming support we receive from the FD community. With every order we are able to fund the next round of research/development of FD parts which we hope will continue to keep the FD a relevant platform for many years to come! Each order helps fund the next project (of which we have many going at the same time). Thanks again you guys, and keep the orders coming!

Talking Production is Finishing up!

Hey everyone, we'd like to thank everyone who took the jump to become one of our early adopters! Manufacturing is complete, and parts are headed out for Mil-Spec hard anodizing. Community response has been amazing, and based on our beta testing, we are confident that we hit the performance/price sweet spot with the Wilwood Track Day Kit!

We still have a few kits available for purchase, but this unbeatable sale will be closing out at the end of the month!

This glowing hot deal is only available until July 31st at Midnight. If you've been waiting to pick up a BBK for your FD, the time to act is now! Not to overstate ourselves, but this pre-release Introductory Sale will NOT be coming back. This pricing is only available to early adopters, and at the beginning of August, the base price will be adjusted up to $1600!
