Rtek is a fuel and timing EM chip that can do way more then the SAFC can.

If you have a Rtek, you do not need a SAFC or another piggy back or a standalone. You do not want to run two engine managment controlers together at all.

You missed that he had a 1.7, not a 2.0. The 1.7 is not programable like the 2.0.

With that said, I run an SAFC with my 1.7 to dial things in a bit more. There's too many different types of injectors out there for the 1.7 to work perfect on every setup without some fine tuning. I would highly recomend a wideband to use in conjunction with the safc.

gross poluter:
Which injector pesets do you have for your RTek 1.7? And are you running a SAFC or an SAFCII?

The 1.7 doesn't have presets that you can change. It's for 550/720

The 1.x series ECU's are not programmable, so there's no "presets" beyond what the ECU is programed for. The 1.7 is set for stock primary and 720cc secondary injectors. I ran an SAFC and used a ZT-2 and Pocketlogger ZT for AFR monitoring, for balling on a budget it's a very solid setup.

The SAFC and SAFC-II modify the airflow signal in the exact same manner so functionality wise there's not much difference with exception of more tuning points on the SAFC-II.

Ninja edit: Mike beat me to it.
