Cracked my front FD iron

If my front iron cracked at the "stock" turbo oil fitting area, can I weld it, run oil externally to the front bearing? Or am I screwed and need a new front iron? I used to run Turbo2 irons externally lubricated.

Tap the hole where the banjo bolt goes in so oil doesn't come up when oil is fed from the side of the front plate, the block oil coming through dowels from the rear, use oil filter adapter to feed front bearing and turbo.
