Aerospace Components front brake kit

Is anyone running the Aerospace Components front brake kit on their cars? I called them today to see about ordering a set and they need my spindles sent to them for the build. I just wanted to see if anyone else is running them and has any feedback on them before I decide to go that route. I did order them for my rear already...I was going to order their drag brake kit, but they told me that if I intended on using on the street at all, that I should go with their pro-street setup because the drag rotors are too thin for street use.

I just wanted to get some feedback on these kits from the people who have them. I know Lupe (Viking War Hammer) Eric had them on the rear, and I know Silver94R2 has them front and back on his car, but I am not sure if he is on the ground yet with that car or not.

Thanks for any insight available. The car is being built as a purpose built car, but I still want to get to use and enjoy the car on the street...but it is track built and track legal.

Earlier, I did a little research into aerospace components, and found some experienced guys told me to go with other brands like Strange Engineering due to quality of the components. Supposedly, Aerospace brakes "drag" much more than others. For instance if you jack up the car and spin the front wheels, they stop quickly without hitting the brakes due to the drag, as opposed to others which spin much more freely. For me, their stories were backed up by Ken's old all motor car. According to Chris, one time Ken had the car on the dyno at Rotary, and the rear brakes (aerospace) started to lock up and drag causing reading problems. If I remember the brakes even started glowing or smoking! (I can't remember which), and found the rear brakes locking up. Remember, I don't have personal experience with this, and I don't remember the exact details, but you get the idea. Hope this doesn't dissapoint you too much.

They weren't too expensive...so if they prove to suck, I will just sell them. This will make me re-consider my front brake selection though. Thanks for the insight. I am running Strange axles, and debated the Strange brakes...but wasn't sure, I liked the weight of the Aerospace brakes...but I am not going to sacrifice performance for weight.

Rx3 Brakes

I use the brakes on my Rx3 and they are way better than the stock brakes

the first thing i notice is they are really small brakes but powerfull.I had to

to get used to the feel because on my first test pass i locked the front tires up

even though they are only single piston. I personally think they are the best

upgrade for the old school mazdas out there.

I bought them from the racingstore,Tony Negron the person to talk to.

Check out the brakes before the install. Here is my car with the brakes on and

the Weld wheel with it,They look really nice and tuff.

Aerospace brakes are prety good. Never really had any problems with them. Whenever you have a drag issue with any brakes it's due to mis-alignment of the caliper mounting bracket most of the times. Other than alignment once you use the correct shims provided in the kit to center the caliper they perform pretty good.

Good to hear. I will see how I like the quality of the rears when they show up, and if I like them, I will look to order the fronts. Now is it required to send them my spindles? Or is there anyway to order them w/o going through that? I assume they just don't have the jig for them, but others have them, so I was kind of suprised that they don't have the specs to build them again. Oh well....again, thanks for the input.

My other thread about the front suspension components is kind of being ignored....is there any upgraded front suspension components for the 3rd gen? With a solid rear, Koni 8212 shocks, what would be a good front counterpart for this kind of setup? I noticed that Aerospace components sells a pretty wild looking brake/suspension setup for the front...not sure if I want to go that route for a street car though. I use street car lightly...but it will still be used on the streets....so it needs to work.

Wink The Racing Store RX3 Brakes

Hi Scott,,,this is Tony from TheRacingStore.com
Just wanted to clear some things and answer some questions about the brakes.
The first thing I have to know is if you are going to use the car solely on the street,or only on the weekends or is it a race car only????
You mentioned it would be a "Purpose built car" but is it Road racing or Drag racing???

I have supplied all the kits for many of the mazda owners here and I have only heard good things about them.I try to have the kits for RX2 and RX3 in stock but the guys from Australia keep taking them. They are custom made and take about 2 weeks for us to machine them to your application and bolt pattern.

If its drag racing and you just want to use it in the weekends, then the Drag kit is the one for you.I have these in my street car and has worked good for over 4 years now(I only use it on the weekends).
I also use the same kit in my Race car and when running 170MPH+ and your parachute wont open youre glad you have them instead of the factory ones,it stops the car pretty quick!

If its road racing or daily use then the Pro-Street brakes are the ones for you, they are more expensive but will take the daily beating or road racing use.The rotors are thicker and bigger and not many people get these because of the price and because it limits your options for wheel size(bigger brakes need bigger wheels). They look very nice and perform really good. You can see the picture of the RX2 with a set of Pro-Street Brakes.\
Is really hard to see in the picture but since caliper is thicker,it has what they call "Caliper Hangout",,,,this may or may not hit the inside of the wheel,,,,,,AGAIN depending on the wheel.

As far as Quality goes,,,,,,well the Aerospace and Strange both are high quality, only difference is the price(Strange are more$$),and the finish,Aerospace has a natural billet finish and Strange have a light powder coat silver.
They both use the same piston, same rings and the same size of pads.
And more important Strange does not have anything for imports. The few cars you have seen with Strange Brakes,I have machined their kits to make them fit.

I do sell the kits with a different brake pad compound that is designed for the Imports. This is why you hear Rene saying he saw a big difference fron the 2 piston set up I sent him.

About the brakes locking up, any brake caliper can drag or lock up.There are many reasons but the main ones are not installed right, not properly mantained or unequal brake displacement.

Kilo Racing uses my brake kits, and many other racers alike as well as many street cars.

Let me know if you need to order them,I dont need a Jig or the strut, only your information and application set up. I also have the rears in stock as well to fit your Strange axles, this way you will have the match set.

I hope this answers your questions,,,,,,,,,,and I hope my next emails wont be as long as this one,,,,lol :-)

Call me if you or any of the guys need any more info,or is best to email me directly as the phone is always ringing.

Take care,,,,,,,

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know how to get hold of The Racing Store, or Tony Negron? I want to purchase some drag brakes for my rx3, and I'm told to get them from him. I've tried emailing a hotmail account, but am getting no reply. Any help would be great!

Aerospace don't do a kit to suit an rx3 with spindle mount wheels.
