i am using a spec sinter iron disc. from what i heard was the same as the ram just no wait time. the spec disc was .030 thicker then the act. so I added .030 shims and was way up top. removed the shims and still nearly the same. kind of puzzled as i added in the same shim size as what was the overall thickness increasment of the spec disc.

Stock disk new .315
Replace .275
Sweetspot =.40
Ram .380, some get them at .385
Whatever your ACTUAL micrometer measurement (pushing jaws closed with finger roller) then subtract .315
Above example .380 minus 315= .065 shim
personally I've found them feel normal initially at 10-20% worn or .004 to .010 of wear ( but for us we add distance) or so .380- .310 =..070 to .80 personally in this situation .072 or .075 shim
The fw dosent wear much, neither the pp, but .001-.002 max can be assumed from wear and used to round to your nearest shim
Not enough shim will act all fucked up just like 2 much shim
Seems crazy that .040 is what your working Arround but measurements are CRITICAL
I never change more than .010 without checking pedal feel and take up

So as the disc gets thinner it should raise the pedal pick up height then . I started off with a .030 shim as my act was .310 and my spec was .345 new . It does still hold down 600who just way up top.
Side note , what clutch are you going with now bacon. I saw the act carnige ...

.007 makes if go from a lil sloppy to like new, no bullshit
Ugh I'm so all over the place, have a osgiken twin disk with push pull adapter on the way, it was either that or the exedy for the quickest turn arround ( don't need a new bell or scatter) Have some adapters coming from overseas to adapt the s5 bell onto a Fd box ( have to find bell, scatter shield Is local) Then I can run anything McLeod, quartermaster, ram billet, but most likley it will be something I can get new disks/splines if I ever loose my mind

ill give the .035 a try. only has about 4-5 pulls on the hwy and dyno time.
as for new clutch options. i spoke with exedy and i was talking to him on the twin plate and how i had pushed through one before. he advised me to order the kit then get a cm02h c. cover which has 400lbs more clamp load. said it will take it from 511tq hold to 615tq. this is still being pull type and with spring loaded discs to keep the tranny happy.

Like I said I've been seeing a few thou extra, makes it act like a broken in clutch, not a fresh, and the sinterized barley wears so the "break in" happens with shim
