15" wheels for FD drag racing, do they fit?
I don't have excel so I can't access Jimlab's wheel fitment guide.. I was wondering if 15" wheels clear the brakes on FD's, and if so what backspacing/wheel sizing are people using. Thanks-Nick

I found a thread with some conflicting info- one person was saying to use a 15x8 w/ 7.25 bs and a 1/4" spacer, one was saying 15x8 5.5 bs 1/2" spacer. I have a set of 15x10 7.5 bs Draglites for my Supra, along w/ a set of 15x10 6.5 bs Centerline Convo pros, when it warms up and I actually start working on my car I'll have to check it out. I was just looking for a quick definitive answer and couldn't find one. I'm surprised its not a sticky in the drag racing section.

I have 15X8" in the rear with 5.5 BS and Ari Yallon told me with some slight grinding of the caliper they will fit fine without spacers. But you have to remember you will need 3" studs and lug nuts to install.

Nice!!! Are those http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ?
10" wide and 6.5" backspace?
What kind of work on the calipers? Grinding here and there? What about the rear?
I have been desperately researching if I could fit 15" rims and mount 275/40/15 Hoosiers A6 for my autox car...
Thanks!

I´ve tried with 10" wide pro stars in the rear. Don´t think it will clear the toe link no matter what backspacing you go with.. A 10" wide wheel will need to be at least 16" high to clear the toe link.

Will work for horsepower
The toe link is not the only problem trying to run 10'' the lower link will hit the out side of the rim.
Or you could grow a mullet jack the car up and run camaro style!

But, what does the 10" rim width have to do with the toe or the lower link clearances? I understand that wrong backspace or smaller diameter may cause interference with those but why do you keep pointing at the 10" width?
Provided that you have been able to mount a 15" in the rear with the appropriate backspace (and I understand from other posts that this can be done with some appropriate grinding of the caliper and the toe link nut) larger rim widths - but same backspace - will only cause the outside of the wheel to stick out more.
Thank you for your patience and understanding...

Not trying to give you ****, its just that ive tried a 10'' x 15 wheel with a 5.5 back space and it hits the edge of the wheel hard core.
But if someone has done it i wish they would speak up!

This is what I found on the V8Rx7 forum
http://www.v8rx7forum.com/drag-racin...ag-wheels.html
If I understand it right, Dan Schechter's 15" used the rear with a 4.5" backspace + 1/2" spacer (needed to clear the protruding caliper? - I don't know). The post says 5.5rs and 4.5bc. I don't know what 5.5rs means and I assumed 4.5bc indicates the backspace. If this interpretation is right, it may mean that a no more than 4.5" backspace is needed to clear the links in the rear.
I guess we are getting there...
Thanks

Update.
I bought one 15" x 10" with 5.0" BS Pro wheel from Diamond http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/ProSeries.htm and "tried it on"
I found small interferences with the brake calipers F and R. In the R, there was also interference with the toe link bracket.
With a grinder, I easily took care the toe link bracket interference just by rounding up the top corner a bit.
I then found out I needed 0.5" spacer to clear the brake calipers and not touch the dropwell - see http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/Terms-BS.htm
In order for the calipers to fit them inside the dropwell area, I figured you would need to grind out the rdges in the R caliper by 2-3 mm. If you do that, you should be able to use 6.5" or maybe even 7.0" backspace. With my test %" BS wheel, there were about 2" between the toe link bracket and the start of the dropwell.
In the F, the caliper would instead require some grinding mainly at the top corner to fit the inside of the dropwell. There are no other parts of the suspension that would then limit your backspace other than the springs.
I personally don't feel comfortable grinding the calipers, although I would love to hear from people who may have done so.
In the end, I ordered 4 wheels with a 4.5" BS. Those will stick out quite a bit, but that is OK for my intended use.

Ok so tell me what wheels I need to run 15" WELD PROSTARS all around. I want the skinnys in the front and I guess 15x8 in the rear. I know I need 5.5" BS in the rear with a 5x4.5 lug pattern. What about the fronts? Thanks guys.
PS: I already have extended NHRA legal ARP studs in the rear. Do I need them for the fronts too? I also have the stock brakes all around so all I have to do is slightly grind down the calipers?
