The only things that I know make an engine rev quicker are lighter internals, flywheel, and Ive heard compression?

What could be done to make a 13b-rew rev quicker?

The vid of the F1 car that was posted made me jealous :/

A light flywheel makes an enormous difference. Eliminating or underdriving engine accessories probably makes a noticeable difference, too.

I think they rev so fast cause they don't have flywheels, not sure on this but i think i read that somewhere.

are you talking about what makes an engine rev up faster or rev higher? there's no trick to higher rpm aside from just having a really good engine that can breath at the rpm you want.

Don't forget everything attached to the engine, like accessories... the transmission shafts... the rest of the drivetrain...

It's all veddy important!

And proper tuning is also very important!

F1 cars are light, have alot of hp and their engines have such a short stroke, thats why they rev high and fast..

How fast it revs up is basically a measure of the torque it makes and how heavy the engine/flywheel/accessories are.

So, if you were running it stripped for racing w/ a light *** flywheel and it was on boost, it would rev fast as hell. However, off boost, the rev increase wont be as fast.

(Yeah I know this is totally not the answer you want) The 'fastest revving' engine I can think of that you could conceiveably get would be some stroked out supercharged v8 with a light flywheel and minimal accessories out of gear. Unfortuantely it wont rev all that high unless you put in forged EVERYTHING and have some serious valve springs. :P

So, for a turbo rotary to spin up fast, stock twins in sequential w/ all the breathing mods and a light flywheel and underdriven accessories.

lighter rotating assembly, lighter driveline, compression and gearing are all fine, but the design of your intake system plays a role in response and revs. i'm surpised no one has mentioned that point specifically.

I don't think this is correct. To my understanding F1 car are required to use the same motor per race including qualification round.

Actually, under the current rules, they must run the same motor through TWO race weekends.....if they swap motors early, they take a 10-position penalty in qualifying.
