Abel has always thought that his race played a part in him not getting any major sponsorship like the rest of west coast racers! His point been that he's proven what he's capable of but no one ever took notice.
At least finally for 2002 K&N Engineering is going to help him and his team out!

So, Chris, Greg, Ito, how old are you guys anyways?

Someone who knows Neil (Rottentop)!
What about Charlie (Halfbreed) Lewis!
Good old Fountain blvd. racing legends!
I guess you should remember Tito's 1st gen rx-7 that was powered by the Grand National motor and then later the 300ZX twin turbo motor just before he crashed it! The only 1st gen that looked like a 300zx coming and a rx-7 going!

It would really be cool if Toledo could bring his car up here for the WIC event next month!

my friend that has the video had a rotary shop up here at the time and offered to buy the crashed 300zx-7 from Tito, but he cut the car up instead i guess he didn't want anybody else driving his baby. the thing i loved about that car was the big BLITZ sticker across the side, nobody had any idea of what the hell BLITZ was untill like 5 years later.
my friend is now living in Ft. Lauderdale and building a tube framed 13BREW first gen. when i come down to moroso in april, we'll come over and introduce ourselves chris.
damn i miss fountian......

I'm supised no one has said anything about Billy Burnham with the 3 rotor rail. (The guy from Oregon.) He sold it a couple years ago, but he was for a long time one of the fastest guys out there. When he did get a little coverage in National Dragster....they called it a V6... Bill is a realy nice guy, i allways see him down at the track...to bad he sold it. Anyone ever know what happend to the rail? CJ

I have to agree with all the anger some of us are showing towards the import magazines and import drag racing associations......but it's all about politics and big sponsor $$$$$$$$$ and not so much with racism, like Chris mentioned they seem to be calling the shots with big events.
I still remember last IDRC event @ Maplegrove my car was exactly 100lbs heavier...WTF !!! where that weight come from???? Funny thing is that many of the California cars were breaking records back to back !!!
and I bet some were under their weight limit.
As far as Tito(Eddie Belo)...his Porsche was defenitely a menace in the streets, mainly against bikes !!!! 1/4 mile, 1 mile or whatever.....
I spoke to him @ E-town on a wed night before it closed for the winter and he mentioned his "race" car was somewhere in Florida and he was planning on going there for measurements or just pick up the tube chassis and finish it himself. He was there testing a Buick GN with Dennis Marquis(yellow 20B FD) which should also be out for 2002 season. Forgot to ask if he had a shop.
Hey SPEED_NYC, do you remember when Stanley ripped Vinny a new ******* at a main event ??? Vinny lost alot respect because of his pit crew actions. They almost beat this guy up for going past the rope to look at the engine bay !!!!
I give PEPE LOCO mad props....he likes to brag alot but that's ok because he could afford to. He's drives his car like it's not his !!! probably the reason he did so well in 2001 and nice that he did get some recognition.
I do remember the 3 rotor rail car @ Atco....how fast did it go?
I also witnesses Partytime's last run :-(
Hopefully the 1st import car in the 6's or 200mph+ will be a rotary powered car regardless who's.....

(that car was WAAAY ahead of it's time. i'm willing to bet that the first 5 sec run by an import is gonna be done with a forced induction rotary powered rail!)

John D, I do remember seeing Stanley rip vinny on more than one ocasion. vinny is just a sore looser and poor sportsman. i can remember hanging out at paisleys shop back when he was first stripping the white car that weould become his race car, he called vinny on the phone and asked him if he could BORROW a blown motor for a day or 2 to take some measurements before welding up a motor plate. vinny said, no we dont have any motors for you guys with a half laughing voice. this was when vinny was having LOTS of motor problems and blowing motors left and right, WTF?? i think he was just scared of the competition. he has a rep ijn the industry of being an *******, and i'm sure that has hurt his sponsorship situation....

It's funny that you guys mentioned Vinny's un-sportmanship qualities!
I remember some time back at an event I believe it was one of NIRA's first down here when a certain black FD unleashed a fresh can of whoop *** on him in the finals. The guy went crazy wanting to fight with everyone even doubting the officals and claiming the time clocks were wrong! What a sore looser!
