Seq twin FD vs 997/GTI/500 rwhp Built Z06

Don't typically post here but since i had a rather interesting run with some of my local buddies here I figured I'd share the results to make some rotary owners proud. Due to the fact I live 15 mins from the Blue Ridge Parkway and many other mountain roads me and a group of drivers often go out for spirited drives every chance we get. On the way back yesterday we decided to do some highway pulls just for fun and the results were quite surprising. Sorry no vids

My go-go mods: PFS intercooler, Racing beat turbo back, Power FC with PFS tune on 14 psi seq setup. I'm estimating 300-330 rwhp, not sure but it moves very very well.

First one was against the GTI, it has basic bolt-ons and tune and supposedly makes about 280-290 rwhp. We did a 3rd gear roll around 55 mph. After the second turbo came online the race was over rather quickly.

Second one was against the 997. It's a 2008 3.3 non turbo makes something around 330-340 flywheel hp but there's not much drivetrain loss so it is very quick. We did a 3rd gear pull around 55mph, kept it on my high boost setting and by the time we hit 100 mph I could see his headlights in my sideview mirror and was pulling away generously.

This last one is the good one. Built C5 Z06, had a nasty cam, lifters, rods, etc. Put down 495 rwhp/rwtq and has run a best time of 10.3 1/4 mile. We both knew he would destroy me. But to our surprise we did a 60mph 3rd gear roll. Absolutely dead even all the way up to 100 then had to shut down, and in fact around 8300 rpms I was slightly starting to inch away from him. So in his favor he wanted to do a mid rpm 2nd gear roll ...That was ugly for me, I brake boosted second but it wasn't close to enough and by the time we hit 100 he had several car lengths and was pulling away as expected. The surprising part was that anything over 60 mph went in favor for the FD, so I drove home a happy camper and very impressed with the little engine that could. Especially for it being practically stock vs a fully built LS(something lol) that was bordeline streetable.

EDIT: I won't go over what happens when we actually reach some curves though

congrats! I have a buddy with a c5z thats I/H/E/cammed etc, well he let me drive it once and good lord I stomped on the pedal around 3000 RPM and the thing took off like a rocket. He had it dynoed and put down about 440 hp / TQ. Anyways, I dont know where I'm going with this but my FC makes about 325ish WHP and I'm hoping I can get a race lined up with his vette eventually and we'll see what that little hybrid turbo you gave me can do!

Awesome!! Please get vids!! I think you might be surprised of the results, just like I was .

I really wish I had some for more proof! Turns out the vette had a gopro mounted but I haven't been able to get a copy yet .

Weight, aero and long torque power band will make people think your FD has 500 HP

*Update with Video!!*

So no vids of the before mentioned races but just a little updated on a few more recent runs.

Ran the Porsche owner's cousin who drives a JB4 tuned 135i. His high boost setting which is around 17 psi makes around 400+ rwhp. We did several 3rd gear pulls with me running 15 psi and were almost dead even as well. It appeared as tho he might have put a couple inches on top of third but we plan on doing a longer 3rd to 4th to see how it looks at 100+. That is one amazing, well balanced car though .

Also below is a link to a mountain run between the FD @ 10 psi and the 911. You can see coming out of the corners and mid straight it is pulling away nicely...need to brake a little more aggressive to keep the distance on him.

*Update w/ Go Pro Vids*

Being that this was the last weekend the FD will be spoiled by the amazing roads and community in my area I decided to meetup with a "Domestic" crew to mix things up a bit.

First run: 340whp / 360 tq Trans am
We did a 35 mph roll with me brake boosting in 2nd. By top of 4th he was about 2-3 cars behind

Second Run: 900cc Ducatti (stock- says 800 on it but has the wrong body panel).
Our longer run I had turned off my gopro but we did another run shortly after where u can see we're about dead even until I let off. The previous run he jumped out on me in 2nd gear but by the top of 4th the FD had reeled him back in and was ahead

Last Run: 395 awhp Evo X. Just got finished tuning on Friday. Has an aftermarket turbo and supporting fuel mods etc. Pretty damn fast. Pretty much were dead even, I pulled a little up top on both runs.

End of the night everyone had a good time and no feelings were hurt. Most were surprised to see that the FD was hardly modified at all and yet was still very quick in a straight line. ....didn't bother seeing if they wanted to join me in some turns lol.

Nice runs! I can totally believe the pulls. With PFC, Borla CB, DP, MP, polished intake and 13.5psi I was neck and neck with a 996 turbo to 150, and we did 3 runs. And this setup easily does 175+. These ARE the litttle engines that could.

From a stop its always tricky to get ahead. People and their torque plus these fancy DCTs, but on the hwy? Ha. DCTs dont need to shift that much at high speed now do they. ;-)
