AUX Input questions

I have an oil temp and fuel pressure gauge (both 0-5v gauges) connected to the aux inputs on the dataloggit. I am outputting the info using Raspexi.

They work but the inputs beside the where the wires are connected have voltage. does the 0v input on the dataloggit need a ground?

I know that the instructions for connecting a wide band say to connect a ground and subtract the value. I connected a ground that but it varies a lot making the numbers change erratically.

Who else has connected AUX input gauges and what did you do?

I believe the fuel pressure reads off because the floating ground.

The way I set up my DL to remove floating ground problems is as follows:
(1) Installed an external wire connected to the DL internal ground.
(2) for each input source: run the sensor ground to the DL external ground, run the 0-5VDC to one of the DL inputs, put a noise filtering capacitor across the two inputs for the source.

Solves all the problems.

I think what is asked is the 0V last tab on the datalogit, does it connect to ground for all the inputs? Or at least that would be my question.

Thanks!

Where is DL internal ground? The 0V slot? What size capacitor? Sorry

Usually the most common and largest runner on the circuit board is ground, but the safe way is to test with a ohm meter across the car chassis ground for smallest resistance. Also look for a black wire from the cable between the DL and PFC as it should also be ground and go to the ground of the DL.

As for the capacitor, contact the makers of the DL or O2 wideband makers.
