For anyone with annoying 'problems' with the Power FC
I had a few problems with my car since putting the thing back together with the following mods:
Power FC
Intake
Dp
Mp
Straight CB
FMIC
20B Pump
Pulleys
Anyway, I had a problem with too little boost (.53 instead of .8), high knock reading, low O2 readings, and worst of all surging.
The boost was a stupid mistake, forgot to pu the stock pills back in the hoses from turbo to actuator. The knock reading, forgot to torque the knock sensor properly, the O2 readings I believe are from the 3 wire O2 and are just a little low (.87 now with a PFC tuned by Ray). The surgine turned out to be something very simple actually. The lean mode that the Power FC runs with the O2 sensor operation causes the car to surge... Maybe because mine's a 3 wire, it may not be giving the PFC what it wanted to see and then was overcompensating back and forth, but after turning off the O2 correction, the surging went away. Just thought I'd pass on some common mistakes in case someone else is having problems.

the surging you are describing is that when you start to spool up and reach boost the car pulls back hard. if so then you might have just solved my problem. where do i turn off the o2 correction, i want to give that i a try any way. i have similar mods as you with the exception of the pump and and fmic.
If you look at the fuel cells for rows 4 thru 7 and rpms from about 1200 thru 3200 (columns 3 thru 8) you will see that they are set at 100%. All around there the other cells are richer and follow the power needs of the engine. These cells are in the closed-loop area when the engine is cruising down the road, light load.
That is why you get that surging.
I had long ago mentioned this fact and had posted my improved
settings for this area. Not only does it stop the cruising surge but also improves throttle responce. My O2 voltage is still low when in that area and my car still gets in the high 17mpg range for my dayly driving.
I will post my maps again. Compare the area that I mentioned.

Thanks a lot Chuck, I appreciate it, I read this thread after replying to you on the "power fc stock maps" thread. I was comparing other parts of my fuel map to yours and wondering if the two cars would be comparable.
About the O2 sensor, go to ETC... then Function Select, then on O2 F/B Control, change from the "on" symbol to "off" It's in japanese... Good luck.

i'm still having problems with the pfc. i installed my factory ecu and the car still has that wierd up and down idle, but i know this has nothing to do with the pfc (i'm chaecking other things now). but when i spool up the car still has that surge at 3000rpm only with pfc hooked up, with the stock ecu i'm seeing 15lbs (then i quiclk let go of the gas and shift). when you post maps, how do i get to those maps that you are seeing, is it inj maps?
mods: hks dp, pettit resonated mp, apex gt spec cb, damn near new tranny (thanx ito), new vac lines, soon to be installed ast, act ss. thats really it, i plan on adding k&n filters and a fmic by the end of jan.
should i send my ecu to xs to look at and make sure my maps are correct?
luigi--need help bad.

Hello Chuck, What mods are you running with your map PFCCHUCK02.XLS.
I'm still using the map (Rick Shevland) you had given me some months earlier and i'd like to know if I have to update my maps now ?
could to much fuel, lets say a small leak from the primary injector, cause the car to surge back (at 3000 rpms when seeing boost) when the pfc is installed (reaction as a failsafe mode). and the factory ecu, doesnt doesn't do it because it doesn't recognize it.
