Stock tranny is fun. It can go 500+whp without breaking.

You have inspired me to sell my r154 and mod my FD trans back in there. I love that idea and have always preferred the shifting of the stock trans over the r154. Also what hood is that? I am using a scoot hood I cut up

I also kept my stock sub frame, radiadator, intercooler and fuel setup I ran with the rotary. Mine has been up and running for years now tho so seeing this gives me reasons to mess with it again

I am no longer using the hood which was on the car. It was a replica of the Tech2 Hood. I now have a FEED Hood on the car and I have not lowered or done anything to the engine mounting position. I'll share the details shortly how to get oem hood without lowering engine.

Day 1:
I decided to ditch that ugly Tech2 Replica Hood and get a FEED Hood. This is the Feed Hood when first installed on the car. This is with the OEM Intake Manifold and Sturt Bar Installed.
I was going to get the engine lowered but decided not to when I heard the fabricators cut the sub frame and then lower it and I didn't want to risk having bumpsteer in my car.

When I had decided not to get the engine lowered, I asked a friend for an opinion who had done a 1JZ Swap without lowering the engine and using a RE-Ammemiya Replica Hood. He told me to remove all the turbo piping and Intake Manifold and check if the Hood fits. He also told me that engine has to be mounted at the lowest possible position without lowering the steering rack. Luckily my engine was mounted the same way he said.

Once everything was removed I tried closing the Hood.
Note: Hood Lock was removed and Hood Skeleton was not shaved

Since I knew now that the Hood will fit with an aftermarket Intake Manifold I decided to purchase one. I got one from a friend which he bought from driftmotion along with a 100mm throttle body.

I then tried to install the manifold right away on the car.
It didn't fit. I was disappointed :'(

The Manifold size was huge. It was touching the sturt tower and ABS.
I had to get it redone. Had to shorten it a bit and re position the huge throttle body.

I used a similar one a cut it to fit and also repositioned the throttle body. I'll post a pic up close of it below. Not only did i notch the tank in the back , i also cut a big section from the bottom and rewelded it back to the base to make it over all smaller. Noticed how close the vacuum block is to the base now compared to yours

Test fitting after it was shortened and the throttle body was re-positioned.
Also I started the car with this. I had installed the IACV on the first fit. When I started the car IACV was not working with this manifold it was wide open and was sucking air. So I decided to delete the IACV.
I'm now idling at 800rpm on cold on a 100mm Throttle Body.

I am currently working on a 1JZ swap on my car. Any more details on how you got the FD trans to mount to the R154 Bell Housing? Also and photos of the actual mounts made on the OEM sub frame would be great! I would love to use the stock trans as I have 2 of them laying around.

This is very inspiring!

The Bell Housing from an R154 was cut and also the Housing of the FD Trans was cut and replaced with the Toyota Housing, It's welded. I might have few photos of it. I can take more pictures of the mounts if you want.

If you want to send me photos via PM that would be great. Anything you can send if the mounts too would be awesome! I am just wondering how you got the input shaft to line up perfectly.
