Anyone Swap Mazda FE3 / F2T into a FC?

Anyone have a link to someone who has swapped a Mazda FE3 or F2T motor into a FC?

Don't know anything about those motors, sorry. What do they come originally installed in, and what are the specs on them?

FE3 is from the Mazda MX6 in Europe and also came in RWD format from the Kia Sportage.

F2T Came from the MX6 turbo and the B2200 mazda pickup.

Both engines bolt upto the rx-7 tranny if you change the bellhousing with the B2200 pickup.

I have an F2T in my '88 MX6 GT (2.2i turbo/intercooled 5spd). Beyond 250rwhp their longevity is questionable. The FE3 is a 4 valve motor and non factory turbo'd..... would require new pistons and balancing at the minimum plus a fabbed exhaust manifold and everything else.

Then find a RWD trans that bolts up...... lots of time/money IMO for unguaranteed results.

I only know of an SR20DETT being swapped into an FD and it runs 10's!

The FE3 non-turbo doesn't need new pistions. They are strong from the factory. I know people with mx6/probes making 350hp on stock internals.

There was a guy JayB who made 450hp on these motors. Its basicly the Mazda 4G63.

Edit: the Kia version does need new pistons.

The post was about the FC not the FD.

The FE3 makes the 4G63 look like a collection of Tinkertoys.

The FE3 rules all.

Someone's swapped one with a honkin' big turbo into a Miata. Quite ironically, since the smoothcase transmission (Miata/non turbo RX-7/B2200/etc) is quite breakage prone, he swapped in a RX-7 Turbo II transmission, fabricating an adapter plate. And people whine about how "hard" it is to swap a T2 trans into an N/A RX-7.

The miata with the FE3 is Danny Godelfers miata. I am currently working on putting the FE3 in a miata also using the TII tranny and differential. Here is a link to Dannys site http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/208651/1

I hate to bring back an old thread but I am currious if anyone has done the f2t or fe dohc swap into a FC. I am currently pondering doing such a swap. From everything I have read it shouldnt be that hard of a swap. I mean you keep the stock tranny with a differnet bell housing. Ofcourse you have to work the electrical, fuel, and coolant. The hardest part seems to be ignition(disty might be in firewall) and the intake and exhaust mani. Granted you could use a kia intake and a miata exhaust mani(need to redrill holes or make them wider)

i have seen pics of that swap, the timing belt cover barely clears the hood. my friend who had an FE3 swapped 626 was going to do it, since he had the motor running he was going to transfer it to a FC. decided it wasn't worth the effort.
in short it has been done, but you have to think is it worth it? there are many RWD turbo options out there. to do this swap you need to mount the engine as it came transverse, then drivetrain or however you want to hook up a tranny, fabbing a manifold( whether you are turboing or not because it was originally transverse), and standalone(which you will probably need because the stock computer is a bitch to work with). then there's all the little things you forget about that wont fit like power steering or radiator/ heater hoses. the only thing that matches up is the clutch disk. i think it would be a cool swap but not if it is to be n@#$er rigged. there is no cheap way around this one. it can be done because we have thought of it, but it was more than we could handle within a certain budget. THERE WILL be lots of custom fab.

Ya I tottaly hear what you are saying. My other car is a 89 probe gt. For all the money, and mostly time it would take to put it in the rx7 I could swap it in the probe and turbo it with standalone.

I did it. It requires a TON of modification to do it right. you could get out of cutting the firewall if you use the 626 dizzy or go to FI
