iv been very busy working on the car lately. i had to put in extended studs because i have some spacers in the back so my wheels clear the rear brakes. when i realized what a pain it was to do the extended studs i just decided to basically do everything for the rear and make it look pretty!
whats got done:
-rear subframe powder coated (had to send it out to big for my oven to handle, I powdered everything else.
-powder coated rear spindles
-replaced rear bearings
-sent out all hardware to get cadmium coated
-cleaned up and powdercoated most control arms and brackets
-undercoated rear half of the car
-powder coated rear rotors
-installed extended arp studs

I got annoyed with the fact that everytime i work on anything under the dash i have to deal with the most rusted bar ever. So i removed it and took it to work, sand blasted and threw it in the paint booth and painted it with some old red paint we had lying around. No more rust!!!
Didnt take to much time with the paint job since you wont see it. But turned out ok.

that was the plan, until they jumped up 2k in price after they stopped making rx-8s. which is completely unrelated to the three rotor. Jdmenginecorps is right around the corner from me. I need to go see them I suppose. Currently I have 2 stationary gear sets, 2 eshafts, one set of irons and rotors from a Rene. Thinking about building that block for the fb before my motor in the FD. I'm really interested in the corner weights of the 2j build because that motor I can get for 3k less than a 20b and it has the same installation issues as the 2j as far as subframe modification goes. When you consider that the three rotor weighs slightly More than an Ls or 2j it really comes down to balance of the car IMO. Decisions decisions

mine is going to be that dash, center console, seats and floor mats. It won't have carpet or anything special. How bad was powdercoating your parts at home? I've been holding off on a build thread so I don't feel rushed, maybe I should just throw it up and let everyone see how bad off it is lol

subscribed, awesome build, i like that you emphasize that ppl should build what they want and not what they could afford, i totally agree, even if it take years and years, but at the end, you'll be a happy camper

thanks, I wasn't always like that, but the longer my project took the more care and money (not that I have very much) I started putting into things. I have just seen so many cars get thrown together and either not last or just turn out like crap in the end.
