Well, I guess its time that I make one of these build threads everyones been asking me to do.

This swap is being done in my garage with some help of a few friends, ofcourse. None of this car is being given to a shop to do. [with the exception of a few pieces].

Ill try to keep this thread updated as much as possible, but this isn't something that I work on everyday or even every weekend for that matter. But it will get done when it gets done. I might be a little antsy, but im not in a hurry to finish it

July 10, 2012

July of 2012, my Evo 9 was finally sold, I was done pondering what to dump my money into next, and my 94 FD RX7 (without a motor) was finally delivered!

The car came from Florida, a little dented and very paint faded. Interior is probably at a 3/10 tan leather errythang (although it looks like someone tried to paint some interior pieces black )

After delivery it was soon decided the FD was going to undergo a heart transplant with a 1JZ. I ended up buying one local (yes, i was also surprised that i found one local) instead of from an engine importing company out of NJ because the warranties only lasted 90 days and no way in hell do i have the time or abilities to complete the swap in that amount of time, so see ya lata to that idea. Another thing that sold me on this motor was that both turbos just got rebuilt, and it came with a couple custom exhaust pieces, another piece closer to completion.

After searching for swap kits and reading horror stories from the few that have tried and have been successful of swapping either a 1JZ or a 2JZ, I decided custom fab is going to be the way to go. For the whole entire car. So soon thereafter I bought a welder, and said let the fun begin! Soon after trying my hand at welding, I knew i was going to need some help so after talking with a local friend (who happens to be a commercial and residential welder by job) he offered to lend a helping hand, or two.

First things First I converted to the front sump oil pan. I was really impressed with how clean the internals were, getting me even more anxious for the first startup! From there on I kinda just did a little here and there with the motor, re-studded the exhaust manifold, replaced a few nuts and bolts here and there where they may have been missing.

Im still searching around for more pictures and stuff but for anyone who's impatient, the subframe is done, the motor is mounted, im just waiting on a clutch, flywheel, and bolt set to mate the transmission to the motor so i can make a transmission brace. Not really looking forward to wiring lol

You'll need to extend the shifter to meet up with the hole in the tunnel on the FD.
I could sell you mine.

For anyone who is looking for updates, I apologize. I haven't really checked back on this thread, Ive been extremely busy with work.

Current car situation;
I bitched out on wiring and ordered a plug and play kit from Wiring Specialties and that's currently in the car and it's filled with oil! No start-up yet though, I have to finish installing the wiring harness with a few splices.

I'll try to keep up with this thread more often, I can't believe it's been just over a year since my last post.
