Ok it starts on P.66 So My question is: how is he doing the mechanical fuel injection? I know what it is and how it works but in the pics in there i dont see a belt driven fuel pump... And also what components did he use?

Hi,
I'm the guy with the '78 Kelmark/ Turbo II that gave you the 12A engine. Well, I got the bug and broke down and bought a '86 base RX7. Are you going to show your truck at the Aug 11th show in Port Orchard?
The Rotary Rockets have put it on their calendar and I've talked with the saints car club about adding more prizes for import vehicles.

i've seen the car run before, but never looked under the hood for whatever reason. oh wait, never mind, i reread your post and was going to explain mechanical fi. my guess for component would be a jay-tech. but that is only a guess.

wdwflash- Ya I know who you are. I might bring the truck out, i would probably bring my yellow one if i bring one out since that one is completely stock and is somewhat immpressive as a nearly perfect example of the REPU. Also i should have my rx-3 done by then too, but that is realy rusty and not at all a show car so we will see.

rxrotary2_7-- I did not know J tech made mechanical FI. I will have to look it up. But ya I would realy like to find some more info on exactly how he did it all and see some HP numbers.

i dont KNOW that they made it. i am just guessing. i would put a few dollars on it (being a betting man ) and i cant picture who else would have offered something like that.

Look at the front, bottom left of the engine, I believe that is where his mechanical fuel pump is. With that pump, do you still need an electric one, or does the fuel line actually come off the bottom of the fuel cell? I think this is a great setup and I will use it if I build up my engine.

Ya i still cant realy see it down there, but maybe i need glasses. Ya he might use an electric pump to get it up to the mechanical one but who knows, it might just pull it all the way there. Ya mechanical is a cool setup, but unless its going to be a race or drag application i wouldn't realy want to do it for the street. Plus the only way to realy do it is to fabricate everything and thats a lot of work for something, if something else will work the same on the street. But any ways i am just glad it was in the mag.

can you you make a benz one work somehow? fabing everything would be a PITA!

Well thats an idea. I mean you could raly make anything work but the hardest part woul be getting it all adjusted so that it squirts the right amount at the rite time up through the rpm range. Have you seen the pics of the set up that mazda sold back in the day? It was mechanical and had a slide plate instead of butterflys. Kinda cool, and it used a bosch belt driven fuel pump that was about the size and shape of a alternantor. Interesting stuff to think about, but i think i am just going to stick with IDA for now, since it is basicall just as simple and can make probably just as much all rotor pwr. I have never seen the Benz ones b 4.

Since I have my first gen laying around, and an extra 13b, I was thinking about building a drag car. But I do not like messing with all those electronics. So far, just a thought in my mind I was thinking about using the distributor from a japanese first gen, some msd stuff for ignition, a belt driven fuel pump, rising rate FPR, and there is something out there, forgot what it is called that if there is too much fuel, it gets bypassed back to the fuel cell, and some damn good tuning. The point here is simplicity, I don't want an electric nightmare for a drag car.

Good choice! thats why this guy in the mag is running so good. cus he acutualy spends his time on the track rather than tuning a computer in the pits. You should run a full p port and just make your own mechanical fuel injection. Or if you wanna run a lot of boost then just go with a big street port and run high boost. But i still think all rotor is definitely cool.
