Fixed the hood yesterday, well at least for the time being. Used a 3M 2 Component foam to adhese the frame back to the sheetmetal. No more straps across the hood and no more fluttering hood!

My 73 Mazda RX2 has been languishing under a Tarp and carcover for 18 months. Took it off the road to fix some rot around the windshield. Well, between building the new house, selling the old house and not having a finished shop it has been neglected by your truely .
LAst month it was sunny so I removed the covers and got it started. Went to move it and the clutch hydraulics were shot.

Today I came home, pulled the clutch master and fitted a rebuild kit in it. Bled and works great, total elapsed time ~ 45minutes.

Fired her up, let the fluids warm up and down the street for a quick 70mph blast with no windshield. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

Now to break out the metal working tools and devote some time to repairing the rot properly

Poorly performed repair (on car when purchased) and new rot on Drivers side

Rot on Passenger side

Damn, a pile of dust hit my keyboard when the thread opened!

I was just working on my back window with the same issue a few nights ago. I made two pieces to replace the whole lower edge but I only had my phone with me and it takes crappy pics. I've gotten pretty good with my shrinker/stretcher combo and I have a good friend that has a bunch of metal brakes and other goodies to convince steel into different shapes.

Let's see who can keep their thread the highest with updates!

Got the new shrinker today, its a modified Harbor freight unit with "stippled" dies versus the standard serrated dies (doesn't tear the metal up as much.

Try contacting John McBeth, He had his dash redone so I'm sure he can suggest a good place to send it to.

During the restoration of an Alfa GTA vintage race car we smoothed out the cracked dash, filled in cracks with expanding foam, and recovered it with motorcycle seat vinyl. It stretches in all directions so it is easier to keep it from getting bunched up.

The GTA dash is very similar to the RX2's in shape and how it attaches. Do an image search for "Bob Lee Alfa". I helped finish the car for the Amelia Island Concours a couple years back, a good friend of mine did the complete, correct restoration of the Kwech driven 1966 Trans Am championship winning car.( I think he's up to 11 GTA's restored now)
