Where can I buy a single rotor... and does this sound right?
Hey everyone, anyone know where I can buy a front housing and rotor for a 93 rx7. I have a highly respected "associate" doing a rebuild on the engine and took me over to take a look at it and both the housing and rotor is all scratched to hell. He said he found someone threw one of his"sources" that has set of rotors and housing in perfect condition for $550. Should I have concerns about the fact the vin(if not JDM) is going to be on it, or could I buy the housing and rotor cheaper.

welcome to the board.
these days, $550 for a set of rotors AND rotor housings is actually a GREAT deal! you can easily spend that on a set of rotor housings ONLY. a set of rotors could easily run another $200 to $300 on top of that. if they are indeed in "perfect" condition like your friend says, then you should do it. you can probably sell the rear rotor and housing from your core and get most of your money back ... no jive!
if what you're saying is you don't have $550, then figure on at least $100 for a single rotor and maybe $150 for tired rotor housing, if you're patient.
the link in the previous post gives you an idea of what they cost NEW.
if you check the Classified section (when you get enough LEGAL posts ) or Ebay or other ads, you'll see what they go for used.
i don't understand what you're trying to say about VIN numbers and rotors. could you explain?

Without getting into discussion you will need to find matching rotors that have the same Letter Stamp as they would be more balanced to each other.
NOW,seeing this is NEW TECH you will find that the FS sections will have that.NO buying of parts will be allowed here so I kindly ask that you refrain from taking the "parts search aspect" any further..sorry about that.
If you look at some of the Vendors or the Guys that OFTEN sell, they are experienced with this info and they would be glad to help you.
Advice: look at some FS threads and ask ALOT of questions, and search the SPECIFICS Sections (like 3rd Gen Specific) for info pertaining to what you need to know.
If you come in to a local shop(that is IF you are going there) armed with some knowledge of what you need then you won't get "taken advantage of".It's so easy to do...that is why the "cheap turns out expensive"..so Do it Once,do it right and enjoy.
Guys on here are glad to help..IF they don't,then you tell me who would not help you and I will CAN THEIR ***!!..lol! (Moderator joke!)
..Hmm..Canned ***........sounds like a Chef Boyardee meal!..they carry a vegetarian version?
