Trailing coil arcs no matter what i do, also clock issue.

88 vert s4 100k manual.
first issue, my smaller one. when i take harsh turns, or i open the doors my clock will reset to 1:00 or 2:00, very bizarre and i don't know where to start on this one.

My main issue! my trailing coil t2 i believe (closest to the strut tower) wont stop arcing. Replaced coil with 2 used ones, and then bought a new one, all do the EXACT same symptom. it will arc randomly to t2 main coil, but at all times it arcs to strut tower in very fine sparks. Ive got .1 ohms resistance battery to chassis, and .3ohms engine to chassis. I get strong constant spark on t1 coil, but when i do t2 it is obviously less powerful. trailing module was replaced off of a known running car with no effect. I also tried to isolate the coil from the strut tower with electrical tape with no change at all. Car runs perfectly, but is obviously down on power, or maybe its just a slow car I dont know hah, thanks for the help!

Clock issue is a cold solder at the back of the idiot lights unit. It needs to be resoldered. Use the advanced search feature to find threads about this problem.

You could have a bad plug and or wire causing the arcing.

I second the plug/wire issue. Electricity will take the path of least resistance. Just because it ohms out ok does not mean it handles a load properly. Try changing the wires and plugs for the trailing side.

Some new ngk 8mm wires and plugs fixed the problem right up, thanks for the advice guys. Im a toyota master tech used to diag-ing some silly ecm or what have you, I forgot in the 80s you could just fix things by replacing the obvious! I bet my face when my friend told me i could tighten my wheel bearings instead of replacing them was priceless.

I know how that goes, I'm a Nissan Master and I over look the obvious on older things as well...
