Slugging after 20 minutes of driving with check engine light

Hi, I'm a new owner of a 1990 FC Vert. I'm having this issue where after about 20 minutes of driving, the check engine light comes on and then once in a while, when starting from stop, the engine will start chugging at around 2,000 rpm. I can engage the clutch again then put it back into gear and its fine. It doesn't feel like clutch slip, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. It also doesn't feel like the "3800rpm hesitation". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull codes and see what the ecu is doing.
Most likely code 27 OMP (failure puts the car into limp mode).

Do you some research on going to into limp mode. I had this problem with my car and what i did as a temporary fix was turn the car off while rolling, then turn the car back on while rolling. this reset the comp so i can drive out of limp mode. once it finally got fixed the problem was that the OMP went bad and in turn fried the ECU. all together it was about a 400 dollar fix!

Thanks for the suggestions. Is there an aftermarket or OEM ecu? Where would I get it one, ebay?

There's a classified section within this board which has a host of replacement parts.

I was fortunate enough to live close to an RX7 shop that took care of everything. So if you have that resource utilize it. The problem with buying a used ECU/OMP online is that it would be hard to determine whether or not it was good/bad until you installed it. When the shop did mine they gave me a bad OMP and replaced it for free a few days later. (Shout out to Lucky 7 for all the good work done on Shaniqua)

this might help too. good luck.
