MI Removing 3M tape from plastics and door panels?

Hey guys,
The previous owner of my car had put fake aluminum overlay over all the interior plastics and I am trying to get them off without damaging anything. I've successfully gotten the overlay off but I am left still with the 3m two sided tape foam and glue, and ides of how to effectively get them off without damaging the plastics?

Also, any idea on how to remove and reinstall the stickers for the hvac controls? I want to remove them for repairing and repainting of the plastics.

Thanks!
Chris

Hey guys, ended up using wax and grease remover to get the majority of it off. Seemed to work the best, that and a ton of finger rolling. Refinished them with a bedliner texture spray which turned out really awesome. I'll post some pics with it gets all back together tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions!

There is a rubber eraser used by body shops that takes this stuff off very well. But I'd be worried it would harm interior trim unless used very carefully. It's basically a rubber disc or ball that is mounted on a drill. About $30 at most body supply stores. Turned SLOWLY it would probably save the fingers.

I have one actually, but from my experience you have to get them going with some rpm's before they will remove the foam. Considering it looked like the previous owner cracked all of the female screw receivers upon reinstall of white face A/C stickers, I was too stressed I would burn the plastic, so I didn't want to try it. I figure my thumbs would heal back lol.
