Radio & Clock stop functioning when turn lights on
I just purchased an 89 convertible. Has a few issues. First is that the clock and radio stop working when you turn on the lights. Turn the lights off and the radio and clock work again. Obviously some kind of electrical short. Any ideas on where to start trouble shooting. Thanks

I don't have a simple solution, I wish that I did. If I were you, I would order a parrot bluetooth adapter from crutchfield, and have them walk you thru the install... Then if the problem continues you can rely on their tech support to find the wires responsible.

welcome to the board.
get a copy of the FSM and take a closer look. based only on your description of what's going on, my first guess would be to check the ground point for that harness and make sure it is clean, and secure.
i'm just curious, but do they retain their memories while they're off or do they reset? after all these years, i've found that some people seem to do unnecessarily weird and dumb things to these cars, particularly when it comes to wiring. maybe a previous owner did something.

in electrical; shows that some people have used a Red/Black as a ground, and it could damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car.
Maybe that Red/Black is connected wrong, it does feedback to the interior light circuit.
