over heating in idle...

so i just got done rebuilding my t2 and its strats up just fine but with in 1 minute it starts to over heat, thick white smoke when i rev it up, and the turbo gets really hot with in seconds of it starting. i just noticed that to coolant level is low and its leaking slowly from where the motor and trans meet so im thinkin freeze plug. so my question is would a leaking freeze plug cause it to over heat like this? oh and the wide band says its running rich...

You have a blown coolant seal. If you just rebuilt it, you probably pinched a seal during assembly.

freeze plugs only go bad when the engine has water in it and it freezes and has nowhere to go except out of a freeze plug. overheating will cause the radiator hose to blow, overflow tank to spew, or radiator cap to fly off at a very very very high velocity.

like beefhole said, internal coolant seal. i believe it would be the outer seal on the rear of the rear rotor housing that would cause it to leak out of the rear so much

After you finish fixing the seal, I recommend using Redline Water Wetter... I use it in all my cars and notice a definite decrease in temps!
