New From Staten Island, N.Y..carb problems.
Have a 83 GSL, 30,000 miles. Want to replace Nikki carb, with edelbrock if i can. Trouble at low idle, shuts down, everything else fine. what carb can i put on where mounts and everything included. Everyone tells me to forget the nikki, will never any good. Does the 83 have a filter on top of gas tank, i have at the bottom and changed it. Can I buy new nikki new if needed?

Well, I read your PM before getting to this thread, so most of this was already said in the PM.
30,000 miles? Good God! Post photos, man. Keep the Nikki.
You're probably looking at a vacuum leak or you need to make a minor idle adjustment.
Get an FSM and a Haynes manual. You can get the FSM at Foxed.ca

no. other than the filter near the left rear wheel, there is a filter in the tank itself. that's it. it is a good idea to put a filter just before the carburetor though.
