OK I have recently bought a 88 rx7 convertible 13b 5 speed and I'm starting to have problems with my clutch. I have replaced the slave cylinder because it went out now I'm wanting to replace the clutch and have no idea where to start I'm completely new to my rx7 and can use all the info and advice I can get.

If u havent already, remove your starter motor (good idea to disconnect the battery to avoid shorting it out on starter wiring). Then remove the tail shaft followed by the gearbox not forgetting to remove the gear stick for easy removal. In the clutch pack im guessing you will get the clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing and hopfully a alignment tool. Undo the pressure plate from the fly wheel and the clutch plate should fall out. Check the flywheel for scores or burn marks as they will affect your new clutches performance. If its damaged you may want to send it away for re-facing. If its not too bad, a quick once over with some not-too-ruff sandpaper. Put the new clutch plate onto the flywheel the correct way round (should tell you on the plate) with the pressure plate behind it holding.it in place. Place the bolts back into the flywheel loose and use the alignment tool to centre the clutch plate. Miss-alignment will be a huge pain when you go to put the gearbox back in and it doesent fit! Tighten up the pressure plate bolts in sequence being careful not to move the clutch plate out of centre. Remove the release bearing from the gearbox input shaft, clean the shaft and use an anti-seize lubericant all over for smooth opperation. Place the new bearing on the shaft and you will now be ready to put the gearbox then tailshaft followed by the starter. Hope it helps and good luck.
