Intake Manifold Madness
I was happily set to replace the intake manifold gasket and o-rings today and got stopped in my tracks. My car is a 1979 GS. SA22C548023. The gasket I ordered from Rock Auto was too long. It was a Beck Arnley Part# 037-4754...according to their website the right fit for 79 and 80 models.
It leads me to question whether there have been some changes to the engine or intake on my car. Pics of intake side of engine and manifold are attached. It's a 12A with a distributor that has been de-smogged. I think I have an engine number for it: 2-100336. Oddly, there is a square port on the engine just below the two centre ports that is not there on the intake manifold.
Thoughts? What gasket should I order?

The mystery deepens....
I ordered this gasket just out of curiosity and it fits: More Information for BECK/ARNLEY 0374656 It's for 81-85 engines. Note the rectangular port below the two centre oval ports on both the gasket and the engine. That port is not on my intake manifold so it appears that the rectangular port on the engine has been open to outside air. The engine ran fine before disassembly, just wonder if this should be attended to? Is it possible I have an 81-85 engine? What are the differences between 81-85 and the 78-80 engines?
