AZ Identify craigslist 13b engine year

Was just wondering if someone could help me identify what year of 13b this is:

Rotary Engine 13B

And thanks in advance, I've just been trying to hunt around for a older 13b so I can swap it into my 82 rx7 or make a 12a/13b hybrid.

Not to bad as swaps go, you will need intake & exaust manifolds for the 13b along with some other stuff but if your going with a carb on the 13b then the swap is not that bad

You will also need a gsl-se oil pan, -se front cover if your going to use the omp, 12a cover will work fine if your going to primix iirc

If you don't know what your going to do for a carb yet madshop on azrx7 has a a down draft (webber I think) and intake for sale. I don't know if the intake will work on the 6 port but the carb is boost prepped if you want to add boost in the future.

Well I'm really leaning toward the 13b over the 12a because of avalibilty of parts and etc As for the carb is a weber the way to go for turbo? I was thinking about getting a holley. Any advantages over webber vs holley? Will I need to change the flywheel or anything else when I swap in the motor?

The best carb will depend on what you are going to use the car for, if your going to track the car holly is not the best due to fuel starvation on hard corners, the center hung floats help a bit.

I have used the stock nikki, a holley for n/a, the holley for blowthrough turbo, and now converted to fi.

Fi is best for turbo, if you went blowthrough on a13b a holley or webber would work

N/a 13b carb and good exaust will make the car a lot funner than stock.

You will want the flywheel for the engine your getting, all 83.5-91 na engines take the same clutch

The other big thing to think about is budget, what do you want to spend and how long do you want it to take.

Time really isn't a issue, money on the other hand kinda is as of right now. I just dont trust that the engine really was rebuilt 70k ago because the guy orginally said he had paper work then didn't. So if I can do a swap of some sort to hold me over until I get some money for upgrades that would be great. I may even go junkyard searching for a low mile rx-7 engine I'll just have to see. Probably be a month or so before I can go and grab one anyways but its better to prepare I guess.

if you do that swap you can plan on spending around a grand, give or take a bit.

i do have an extra stock 12a, if your interisted at some point let me know.

what happend to your engine? could it be rebuilt? if so it may be cheeper than doing the 13b swap.

Nothing is completly wrong with the engine its just a bit hard to start some days but, I think it has to do with the guy didn't remove the rest of the emissions stuff when he put the racing beat exhaust in with no cat. But I'm just wanting for peace of mind to have a engine I know will last and not take some word of a guy that it was rebuilt and only has 70k miles on it because he lied on other stuff on the car before I bought it. Rotospeed how many miles are on that engine?

hay, im back in town, 90k on the 12a. it sounds like the best option for you is to do a compression ckeck, if its good get the car running good. you can change to a holley or edelbrock carb with a rb manifold or an adaptor on your stock manifold, it will make the car much funner and can be done without spending a ton of money. then start saving money and get a plan on what you realy want for the car.. rerbuild, 13b swap, na/turbo, carb/FI ect.

Alright I'll compression test my engine then in a week or so. Just out of curosity how much would you want for that 12a just so I know if the engine does fail the compression test? And thanks again.
