Fuel Pump Wiring Problems

Hey everybody. I've got an 87 base and am having starting issues (just like everyone else). I've narrowed it down to the fuel pump wiring. I'm getting power to the pump side of the connector that connects the pump to the wiring harness. But I'm not getting it past the plate on the top of the pump. Is there a way to get those black plastic covers off the wires so I can see where the power is stopping?

Forgot to mention that I know the pump works (took two leads from the positive and negative and hooked them to the battery for a sec...pump ran)

I had some problems with my fuel pump as well
Yours sounds a little different though
Turns out that it had been rewired to the cruise control switch
Took me a number of days to figure that out

Hah, yeah mine wasn't that bad. I found out the the contacts on the pump side of the connector weren't making a good contact...I took them out and cleaned them all up and it worked. In the mean time though I drilled a hole in the lid that goes on the tank and ran a new wire to the pump. Filled the hole with some strong epoxy and it works like a champ.
Now to solve my idle issues. Vacuum leaks and sensor adjustment here I come!
