FC Rear Suspension -clearance issue
I successfully installed aftermarket coilovers in front with a 1" drop
Rear coilovers were supposed to be more simple, though I thought.
I have come up with a clearance issue with the Knuckle and strut mount,
it pretty much needs to go on a quarter of an inch more, but it can't due to the
width of the shock assembly, is about 1/4" or so thicker than oem.
Not exactly sure how safe this would be driving it as the bolt that is supposed to be tightened cannot go all the way.
I'm not sure where but there was a post somewhere written about this sort of issue.
What is it exactly I have to adjust/replace to get it on properly whilst clearing. Should I just add washers to clear?
Not really interested in getting brand new coilovers all scraped up because of this.
I believe the coilover drops the car significantly perhaps by almost 4" as I have
not replaced the driver side and right now the rear driver side is stock sitting 5-6", did the shock seize there?
I thought lowering 3/4 of the car would maybe force it to drop but I fit my hand there from tire to fender.
please, someone point me in the right direction

I had the same problem installing Megan coilovers and used a big *** washer on the Shock stud to slide the shock out enough so that it would not hit the side.
NOW..looking at pic#2 I got an idea..
I know that THAT NUTTED part (with the smooth shaft that the shock slides onto) will come off the side of the lower assembly..
SO..my idea is to pop it off and put a washer between the Hexed part and the actual spindle assembly(where it screws INTO the rear assembly)
That way you do not have to use a washer on the smooth part where the shock sits.
Of course this would depend on IF there is enough thread on the shock pin mount to allow you to place a washer between it and the rear assembly.
The result is the pin now sits out further from the assembly but still has the original length of that smooth part for the shock bushing to slide onto.

Then I would simply get a slightly 1/4" longer bolt from a dealership, as fastenal nor bolt depot don't seem to have them in grade 8 and same thread. I'd want to get into refurbishing the knuckle assembly in the future, would you recommend any aftermarket rear knuckle replacements?
I'll definitely try and see if I remove that nut on the hub and extend, just might work out as I would only need a little uner a quarter of an inch to clear.

That "Bolt" as you call it has that smooth part on it..the hex and then the metric threads,so it's not likely that you'll find it anywhere.
Go with a couple washers and put it in the smooth part of the stud and you'll be fine.
Even if you make up a spacer that will push the shock out on that pin would suffice.
